1. Why have I chosen this topic?

-When a was little I wanted to be

-Finally, I have decided to study law

-But when I grew up I preferred to study

I visited the courts of Alcoy

There were the judge, the lawyers and the public prosecutor

I have been interested in the law and I want to be a barrister

For me, this profession is exciting and you can meet different types of people

Opinion of some people : The

criminals have to be punished It’s believed that it does the

same as the criminals

Some innocents have died and

there had been serious mistakes

The judge and the police have to be sure the

accused is guilty

Texas is “The killer machine” and

483 executions had been made

For me, it is fair for serial killers and for

those responsible for attempts because

they are a danger

4. Case of Carlos de Luna

- February 4, 1983- A petrol station in Corpus Christi, Texas.

- Wanda Lopez was a single mother who worked in the petrol station.- A Mexican man went into the petrol station with a knife.

4.1. The facts

- She called the police and reported a theft.

- Carlos Hernandez stabbed her with a knife and the stabs went through her left lung.

- The police arrested Carlos de Luna.

- Carlos H. and Carlos de Luna were friends.

- Carlos de Luna said that they had been in a bar and that Carlos H. had gone to the petrol station but he hadn’t come back.

- He saw that Wanda and Carlos H. were fighting.

- He was scared and he started to run.

- He had committed sexual offences.

- The police ignored him when he said that the murderer was Carlos H.

Carlos de Luna:

4.2. The judicial procedure- His lawyers said that Carlos H. was the responsible.

- The public prosecutor assured that Carlos didn’t exist and that he was an invention.

- He presented appeals but he was sentenced to the death penalty.

- He fought to prove his innocence but later he accepted that he was going to die.

Mistakes- The researchers ignored Carlos de Luna.

- Nobody took notice of a witness.

- Carlos Hernandez had a knife as the one that killed Wanda.

- The crime scene was filled of blood.

-They weren’t wearing the same clothes.

-The police didn’t take fingerprints.

4.4. Subsequent events- Carlos was executed in 1989 with the lethal

injection.

- Carlos H. was sentenced to ten years in prison.
