This research describes the culture shock faced by the foreign students who
study at the Antasari State Institute for Islamic Studies Banjarmasin. the foreign
students who are conscientious in this research are 5 students come from Turkey and
1 student come from Tajikistan.
The problem of statements in this research include what the culture shock
faced by the foreign students in academic aspects (in institutional rules and the
lecturer rules) and what the culture shock faced by the foreign students in social
aspects.
The objectives of this research are the first to find the culture shocks faced by
the foreign students in academic aspect (Institutional aspect and the lecturers role)
and the second is to find and to know the culture shocks faced by the foreign students
in social aspect (the foreign students attitude, Indonesian students attitude, Indonesian
students habits).
For data collection the writer technique uses interview. To process data in this
study is divided into two phases, namely: editing and interpretation. And then, all of
the data have analysis is descriptive and qualitative research.
The results from this study indicates that the foreign students experience
culture shock in academic aspects such as trouble with the registration system of
courses, too many courses and campus environment and on their social aspect
difficulty in adapting, both in terms of interacting, communicating and habits of local
students.

Penelitian ini menjelaskan tentang gegar budaya yang dihadapi oleh
mahasiswa asing yang kuliah di Institut Agama Islam Negeri Antasari Banjarmasin.
Mahasiswa asing yang penulis teliti adalah 5 orang dari Turki dan 1 orang dari
Tajikistan.
Rumusan masalah pada penelitian ini yaitu (1) gegar budaya yang dihadapi
oleh mahasiswa asing pada aspek akademik (pada peraturan institute dan pada
peraturan dosen). (2) gegar budaya yang dihadapi oleh mahasiswa asing pada aspek
sosial di IAIN Antasari Banjarmasin.
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah, yang pertama adalah untuk menemukan gegar
budaya yang dihadapi oleh mahasiswa asing pada aspek akademik (aspek institute
dan peraturan dosen-dosen) dan yang kedua adalah untuk menemukan dan
mengetahui gegar budaya yang dihadapi mahasiswa asing pada aspek social (
perilaku mahasiswa asing, perilaku mahasiswa Indonesia, dan kebiasaan mahasiswa
Indonesia)
Untuk pengumpulkan data penulis menggunakan wawancara. Untuk
memproses data dalam penelitian ini dibagi menjadi dua tahap, yaitu: pengeditan dan
interpretasi. Kemudian, seluruh data tersebut di analisis secara deskriptif kualitatif.
Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa asing mengalami
gegar budaya pada aspek akademik seperti bermasalah dengan sistem registrasi mata
kuliah, terlalu banyak mata kuliah dan lingkungan kampus dan pada aspeck sosial
mereka kesulitan dalam beradaptasi, baik dari segi berinteraksi, berkomunikasi dan
kebiasaan mahasiswa lokal.
