We all know that Jesus died for us.We were supposed to pay the priceof our sins with our life. Wedeserved to die because we wereslaves of sin; but Jesus died in ourplace (Mark 10:45). Why did he need

to do it for us? Who are we in theeyes of Jesus?

How did the thief look at

    himself?

How did Jesus look at him?

How do you think would Jesuslook at you? Who do you think

    you are for Jesus?

Like the thief, we are all guilty

    of a crime against God.

However, in the eyes of Jesus weare all worth saving.

    Jesus restored our life and

dignity for us.He knew and loved us all when

    He offered His life

We are His brothers, we are all

His friends, and we are all His

beloved. No one has greater love than this,

to lay down one's life for one's

friends (John 15:130).Jesus gave His own life for you and

for me because He looked at us as

    His friends.

And I consecrate myself for them, so that they

also may be consecrated in truth. I pray notonly for them, but also for those who will

believe in me through their word, so that they

may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in

you, that they also may be in us, that the world

may believe that you sent me. And I have given

them the glory you gave me, so that they may be

one, as we are one, I in them and you in me,

that they may be brought to perfection as one,

that the world may know that you sent me, andthat you loved them even as you loved me.

Father, they are your gift to me. I wish that

where I am they also may be with me, that they

may see my glory that you gave me, because youloved me before the foundation of the world.

He did not only do it for one or twopersons but for everyone(Matthew26:28; Hebrew 9:28)

Jesus as the Son of God is the only one

    for our sins.

The death of Jesus became oursalvation because of theunconditional love that He gave us

    (CCC 616).

The cross which was a sign of

humiliation and pain became a symbolof grace and salvation.

"Whoever wishes to come after me mustdeny himself, take up his cross, andfollow me (Matthew 16:24).

Jesus wants us to carry our own cross not

as a burden but as a sign of our love for

    others.

Turn away your face from my sins; blot out all

my guilt. A clean heart create for me, God; renew in me a

    steadfast spirit.

Do not drive me from your presence, nor take

from me your holy spirit. Restore my joy in your salvation; sustain in me a

    willing spirit.

I will teach the wicked your ways, that sinners

may return to you. Rescue me from death, God, my saving God, that

my tongue may praise your healing power.

Lord, open my lips; my mouth will proclaim your

    praise.
