Learn How To Never Outlive Your Money

Enjoying rEtirEmEnt in thE facE of today’s uncErtainty can be a difficult task. Now, investors have a step-by-step guide to help them properly manage their hard-earned retirement assets in and leading up to retire-ment—Retire Like a Dairy Farmer. Proper retirement income planning and basic investment strategies will help any retiree create a retirement income that can’t be outlived regardless of the market’s ups and downs.

Evan hoobchaak is a Certi-fied Financial Planner™ Profes-sional and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor. He gradu-ated from Middlebury College in Vermont and currently lives in the Chicago area with his wife and daughter. His approach to retirement income planning has helped individuals from all backgrounds retire successfully.

Retire LikeA

Dairy Farmer

How To Never ouTlive Your MoNeY

EVAN J. HOOBCHAAK

The idea of the dairy farmer is a simple one: maintain a herd of

cows by keeping them healthy and occasionally weeding out the sick and infirm. The goal being to use your cows for their milk which (since they’re healthy cows) will be pro-duced regularly and predictably.

Does a dairy farmer get up first thing in the morning and frantically check the price of beef to see what his cows are worth if he were to sell or slaugh-ter them? No, of course not, he would be insane for worrying about the daily price of beef. The dairy farmer instead gets up and simply milks his cows.

How this metaphor relates to your re-tirement is simple. Instead of focus-ing on growth and the value of your portfolio or the market, simply look to the income produced which should be much easier to predict, control, and maintain.

By simply buying and maintain-ing a portfolio of income producing investments (dairy cows), you will be able to generate the distribution rate (milk) needed to support your lifestyle as well as not have to worry about what price the market places on your holdings. In addition, the ‘dairy farmer’ approach to retire-ment income investing takes the fear of eventually running out of money completely out of the equation.

Goodrich ISR SystemsGlobal Positioning System (GPS) IIF-M Spacecraft Components

IntroductionGoodrich ISR Systems GPS products provide unparalleled performance and reliability to prestigious platforms such as the U.S. Air Force Global Positioning System satellite (IIA, IIR, IIF). The preferred choice for today's global marketplace, Goodrich ISR Systems has earned its reputation by delivering low-cost, long-life, high-quality products and consistently demonstrated superior contract performance and responsiveness.

Our GPS satellite mission profile components provide worldwide navigation and precise timing signals. Operating at an orbital altitude of 14,043 mi (22,600 km), the components boast of a 15-year mission life in a high-radiation environment. A provider of satellite attitude and control hardware since the beginning of the space program, Goodrich ISR Systems produces the following GPS subsystems:

Remote Multiplexer Unit (RMU)The RMU functions as a

distribution hub for space vehicle commands, telemetry and

power, and provides closed-loop thermal control and

ordnance deployment functions for the spacecraft.

Spacecraft Processor (SCP)Featuring a 32-bit

computer system, the SCP provides control

functions, attitude determination and control

subsystem functions, mission management

functions coupled with power and thermal management control, dual MIL-

STD-1553B buses, and non-volatile memory for embedded software storage.

Sensors and EffectorsSensors and effectors comprise the static earth sensor (SES), reaction control wheels (RCWs), and torque rods. The SES provides the SCP with pitch and roll data within 0.10°. The SCP then uses three RCWs to generate three-axis stabilization of the spacecraft, and the torque rods to provide fine torque adjustment via the Earth's magnetic fields.

Power Regulation Equipments (PRE)The PRE, comprising a power conditioning unit (PCU) and two solar array shunt dissipater assemblies (SDAs), provides spacecraft electrical power in the form of a regulated bus. The SDAs provide power interfaces while the PCU provides regulation, control and telemetry.

ISR SystemsSpecialized Production Facility

IntroductionThe Goodrich ISR Systems production facility in Barrington, IL has the unique equipment and expertise required to produce circuit card assemblies (CCA) and cables to the most rigorous specifications and tolerances. These self-contained production areas are equipped and staffed to perform the entire production process, from design through build, testing, and quality assurance, to shipping.

CCA Fabrication and Assembly

Our state-of-the-art equipment ensures that CCAs are built

exactly as designed and to the specifications set by our

Engineers:! The Semtec automated solder-paste screening machine

ensures accurate and uniform application of solder paste

across the printed wiring board. ! The Mydata pick and place machine populates the CCA

using surface-mount technology (SMT). ! The five-zone Heller convection oven flows and solidifies

the solder, providing 98% quality resulting from the

programmed temperature profile provided by

Manufacturing Engineering. ! Our solvent-free, environmentally friendly CCA cleaning

apparatus removes all contaminates! The conformal coating equipment then applies a uniform

layer of protective material.

Cable Assembly FabricationOur ability to fabricate high-quality cables is based on the expertise and skills of our work force. Our technicians are highly skilled and patient craftsmen driven to create cable assemblies per blueprint that will pass inspection and test the first time, and will survive rigorous environments and handling. From wire cut and strip to connector pin wiring to shipping, cables are produced efficiently and to the highest quality for a wide variety of applications.

Goodrich ISR SystemsCA-270 Medium-Altitude Digital Dual-Band Camera

Unmatched Capability For Medium Altitudes

IntroductionThe CA-270 dual spectral band (visible/IR) digital camera performs a range of low to medium-altitude tactical missions. The CA-270 simultaneously produces both infrared and visible spectrum images, providing the user with day/night, near real-time data for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR). Incorporating Goodrich ISR Systems’ patented digital framing array and step frame technology, the CA-270 provides wide-area coverage stereo imagery with both high resolution and unparalleled geometric fidelity.

! Fills entire operating envelope for medium-altitude missions! Captures imagery in the visible, IR, or in both spectral bands

simultaneously ! Provides high-resolution, wide-field-of-view coverage! Incorporates electronic, on-chip forward motion compensation! Operates in high-fidelity stereo, mono and multiaspect modes

Goodrich ISR SystemsDelta IV Data Acquisition System (DAS)

IntroductionGoodrich ISR Systems has an outstanding record of reliability with over 45 years of experience in the development of rugged avionics without a single launch failure. Goodrich launch vehicle systems are built for severe environments. Our missile- and space-qualified data acquisition instruments provide modularity, high-input channel capacity and high-speed operation.

Goodrich ISR Systems provides the data acquisition system (DAS) for the Delta IV Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV). The Goodrich DAS samples and formats telemetry data containing information on vehicle and payload health and launch stress during ascent and staging. Real-time guidance information is collected and relayed for range safety.
