Major part of inquiry participants thinks that business in Lithuania is dishonest or more dishonest than honest – such opinion is of 73% of all Lithuanian people. Although almost fifth part of respondents thinks that business in Lithuania is honest or more honest than

dishonest.

People with primary education, with 501-700 average monthly income for one family member or with 600-800 personal monthly income thinks more often that business in Lithuania is honest and people with higher education, bigger than 1000 monthly income for one

family member and those, who live in Vilnius or Kaunas thinks that business in Lithuania is more dishonest than honest.

Respondents of age 20-39 with further education, employees, women in maternity/child care vacations/housewives, people with highest personal income more often has opinion that business in Lithuania is more dishonest than honest. The most strict negative position is

held by 60-70 years old respondents, unemployed people and pensioners.

The business structure aspects estimation in Lithuania

% is calculated from the total number of respondents (N=1016)

The opinion about business in Lithuania is obviously more negative – the biggest parts are in the “negative statement” side; i. e. more respondents agrees to the statements where business in Lithuania is described in negative aspects (42-60%) than to those where

business is described positively (16-28%). It is mostly agreed to the opinion that business will do anything seeking for profit, even if it will take to offend legislative acts (60%

agrees absolutely or highly), business seek for profit despite employees needs and welfare (56% agrees absolutely or highly) and that business supports all the projects and social initiatives just in seek of personal profit (55% agrees absolutely or highly).

The respondents of elder age, with lower education, pensioner age people and people living in rural territories has more often a negative opinion about different business aspects.

Rating is calculates this way – respondents accordef1 place to certain company gives 5 points, second – 4 points, third – 3 points and so on.

The medium of these points is represented. The bigger medium, the bigger confidence in the reliability scale.

Which business sector mentioned below do you trust the most? Rate these sectors considering the reliability when 1 means that sector is reliable, 2 – less reliable and so on.

Telecommunications is the most reliable business sector in Lithuania. This sector seems mostly reliable to almost one third of all Lithuanians. Looking from the aspect of confidence, financial sector is very

close to telecommunication. The least reliable is real estate and construction sector.

Men, 50-59 years old respondents, people with secondary, further and higher education, Vilnius and Kaunas citizens, people living in localities with 2-30k inhabitants mostly relies on telecommunication sector.

Financial sector looks more reliable to women, 60-74 years old Lithuanians with primary or higher education, to pensioners and to Vilnius and Kaunas citizens.

Summary

Many Lithuanians sees business as negative aspect – 73% of all respondents states that business in Lithuania is

dishonest or more dishonest than honest and only approximately one fifth of respondents considers business to be

honest or more honest than dishonest.

Negative opinion about business in Lithuania is felt in the various aspects evaluation – more than half of respondents

agrees that business will do anything to gain profit even if it will take to offend legislative acts, that business seek for

profit despite employees needs and welfare and that business supports various projects and social initiatives just in

seek of the personal profit.

Most often negative opinion (both honesty of business in Lithuania and estimating it according the aspects) is that of

senior people, pensioners and rural localities inhabitants.

Speaking of the confidence to the mentioned business sectors it appears that mostly reliable is telecommunication

sector – this sectors (from all mentioned sectors) seems mostly reliable to almost one third of all Lithuanians. Looking

from the aspect of confidence, financial sector is very close to telecommunication. The least reliable is real estate and

construction sector.
