    Five-year-old Grayson Tolley was

    diagnosed with Pediatric Autoimmune

    Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with

Streptococcus (PANDAS) in October 2013. In

a child with PANDAS, their antibodies do not

react normally to a strep infection. Instead of

attacking the infection, the antibodies attack

the basal ganglia in the brain, causing severe

behavioral issues. His family needs help

    covering Grayson's medical treatment, which

    Virginia Member's:

It seems like yesterday I was wishing you all a Happy New Year and now the yearhas quickly passed us by. Time will not permit me to list all of the accomplishmentsyour lodges have made throughout 2013. What a wonderful year Virginia had

through our fraternal outreach and partnerships. There are many people who are

better today for having met people with a tremendous heart; Woodmen people. Iwant to thank you for all you did. We have heard all of our lives, "it is better to give

than to receive". Well, you all must be feeling pretty good by now because you

    were the givers.

I would be remiss if I didn't encourage you to "keep on keeping on". When we think

of being a part of an organization whereby the entire mission and vision is aboutbeing helpers, and good, and kind, there is only one thing to do. Continue to get outthere and be the light of goodness, kindness and provide help that so many need

today. There are people that never thought just a few years ago, they would be at

rescue missions, food banks, jobless and in despair. We can help ease their pain asWoodmen. There are children who need recognition and encouragement and

opportunities to reach their God given potential. We can help provide that as

Woodmen. Your communities need Woodmen people to help be the glue to hold ittogether these days. I trust that you will continue to believe in Woodmen of theWorld and connect to your communities and be the helpers it desperately needs.

One last request for 2014. I would like to ask you to help us to double our fieldforce. We have enough current members as we speak that requires more

representatives to provide the necessary service to you. I invite you and yourlodges to help us achieve our goal in 2014 to double our Virginia Field Force. You

will be hearing more about this in the coming weeks. You deserve it and we want toprovide a first class fraternal field force to your lodges. We need your help! 2014

will be about increases in membership and field force like no year we have ever

seen. I ask you for your help to find great candidates to join our team!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

    Terry

The only way to put points on the board for your5 star fraternal challenge is to ensure that allyour events, flag presentations, communityoutreach events, etc. are entered into your lodges

page at www.myfraternalweb.org. As of 12/6/3, we still have 102 events to be reported.

I know you have heard Sheri and me tell you that this report is vital for your lodge tocomplete. This reporting is one way to help ensure our nonprofit status with the federal

government. At our Virginia Fraternal Alliance Conference in 2012, American FraternalAlliance President and CEO Joe Annotti stated, ...we at the AFA are creating a reportingsystem that is modeled after Woodmen This means we are on the cutting edge for this. All we have to do is use it and keep it up to date. If you have any further questions pleasejust give Sheri or me a call.

HAPPY REPORTING!!! DEADLINE for 2013 reporting is December 31, 2013! Please help mereach my goal of 0 events to reportby the above deadline!

    Post vent Reporting

From The Desk of Terry Wayne Carroll

    As we express

    our gratitude,

    we must never

    forget that the

    highest

    appreciation is

    not to utter

    words, but to

    live by them. ~

We just received some very important information on the 5 star Fraternal Challenge

Program. Please read carefully. As always feel free to Sheri our me if you have any

    additional questions about these changes.

The following will be retroactive for 2013 and continuing in 2014:

    1. The new member requirement will be completely removed from the challenge

criteria for purposes of Star Level determination. Woodmen of the World chapters

already receive payment in Matching Funds dollars for new members every yearbased on the issues for the Past 12 Months Report.

    2. Chapters will still be required to meet the point minimums for every category to

reach desired Star Level (Core Requirements, Patriotic, Community Service,

    Awards).

    3. Points will now be awarded for post-event reporting in the following manner:

Within 30 days of chapter event 100% of points available for that particular

    event will be awarded;

Between 31 and 90 days of chapter event75% of points available for that

    particular event will be awarded;

91 or more days after chapter event 50% of points available for that

particular event will be awarded, if reported by Jan. 15 of the year following

    the event.

If the Community Outreach Manager submits post-event reports on the event

any time after the event, the chapter will receive 50% of the available points

    for that particular event.

    Example:

Chapter 1234 hosts a 5K for a holiday fundraiser on Dec. 7, which is worth 20

    total points.

Report on this event within the first 30 days of event = 20 points

Report on this event between 31 and 90 days of event = 15 points

Report on this event 91 or more days after the day of event = 10 points

Community Outreach Manager reports on this event ANYTIME = 10 points

    4. Chapters will be awarded 5 points if the calendar/officer roster is submitted after

the Nov. 15 deadline, but before Dec. 31.

    5. Chapters will be awarded 5 points if the annual financial report is submitted after

the deadline of March 31, but before dues are held on May 1.

The ultimate goal is to inspire our volunteer members to continue to dedicate their free

time and energy into supporting their communities through Woodmen of the World-

sponsored events. We appreciate everything you do to go above and beyond to support

    our volunteer members.
