Event Beneficiaries
Children and teens struggle to overcome profound challenges such
as serious illness, broken families,
violence, trauma, or loss. These experiences can create
emotional burdens that can interfere with their ability
to function socially and emotionally. Art with Hearts mission is
to support the social and emotional well-being
of children adversely affected by hardship through
creativity.
Color of Hope Audience
Art with Hearts annual Color of Hope Benefit Lunch is a
remarkable event, each year bringing together more
than 350 prominent members of the Seattle community for an
afternoon focused on improving the lives of
children dealing with hardship, illness, difficult transitions,
and other issues through creative expression.
About Art with Heart
Art with Heart has a long and rich history of improving
childrens emotional health and well-being. Since 1996,
our books and programs have helped young people communicate
their silent burdens, allowing healing to
begin. Through strategic collaborations with both mental health
professionals and popular childrens book
illustrators, we combine evidence-based therapeutic approaches
to develop age-appropriate therapeutic
books, programs, and trainings that lead to better outcomes for
youth, locally, nationally and internationally.
Nonprofit organizations, youth-serving professionals, and
schools have used Art with Hearts therapeutic
books to help over 112,000 children move through trauma. Because
of supports like you, Art with Heart was
able to support over 14,000 children and teens facing family
hardship, illness, difficult transitions and other
issues in 2014.

2015 Art with Heart Opportunities for Support2015 brings the
opportunity to meet our standing initiative of completing curricula
for each of our
books, while increasing the training of professionals, and
building stronger local service delivery partnerships.
DRAW IT OUT PROGRAM
Regional Trainings (Current; 4x)
Since April 2014, we have been designing a professional
development training to undergird
the DIO program. We hosted our first pilot session in January.
The next training will be for
the Moyer Foundations Camp Mariposa in March (therapists working
with children/teens
affected by addiction). We will conduct an additional three
trainings throughout the year. |
COST: $38,384 | CURRENT INCOME: $10,000 (Safe Crossings
Foundation) |
GAP: $28,384

This years Q1 community partners include Ryther (teens with
complex behavioral health
challenges; Timing: ongoing) and Fred Hutch School (children

Grief Kit Expansion (Timing TBD; based on grant monies received
from NYLF)
Our proposal to undergird program growth is currently under
review:
Reprint the Grief Kits (books, certificates, frames) and Leaders
Companion,
increasing the # of kids served.
Create a Scholarship Fund to continue to support organizations
who cannot afford
Grief Kits at all.
These will be made available to a qualified nonprofits and
schools with limited budgets, only charging the hard costs
of shipping/handling, removing barriers to service.
In 2016, begin research on the development of an Online Training
component to reach under-served or isolated
communities with limited travel and training budgets. Then in
2017, create an online training component, available
first to NYLF national partners.
COST: $400,000 (this will also cover staff time) | ANTICIPATED
