Introduction:

This is a string of songs mixed together, meant to be programmatic to the circle. It could be seen as what the background music would be throughout the entire book

ExplanationMusic Therapy: a new study about how music’s emotional power can be used on humans

*Music has the ability to change a person’s mood based on its speed, rhythms, key, notes, and chords

Tendancy rules: These are rules of music that, while they aren’t always true, tend to be true.

Doctrine of affections: Music creates the 3 following sets of contrasting emotions:

*Love/Hate *Joy/sorrow *Wonder/Desire

ExplanationThree simple rules:

1. Faster music/more percussive music creates more aggression, where slower/less percussive music reduces aggression

2. Consonant music (resolved music) creates more resolved moods, such as pure joy/pure sorrow, where dissonant music (unresolved) creates more unresolved moods, such as wonder/desire

3. Songs that are major sound happy and create positive moods, and songs that are major sound sad and create negative moods

Example 1: the Jaws theme creates suspense because it’s music scale is dissonant making it unresolved, and it has a minor key which creates negative feelings.

*one thing I personally think is that songs with less lyrics/vocals and more electronic sounds feel less personal and more “transparent”. So, the more electronic a song is, the more transparent the mood in the book is
