Registration for Catechism
will continue on this weekend the 5/6 of September.
This is mostly for new students. Returning students
should have received their re-registration forms in an
e-mail. Those with no e-mail should have received
forms in the mail. Please complete and return these forms to Holy Name
with the necessary fee as soon as possible—the latest is the 15th of Sep-
tember. Forms are available at [email protected] .
Classes resume in late September/Early October. Just a gentle reminder
to return your family’s completed CCD registration form and pay-
ment as soon as possible. There will be someone to receive the com-
pleted forms at the CCD registration table in the Chapel following
the 7:30 am, 9:00 am & 11:00 am Masses, and BEFORE the 12:30
pm Mass. Forms can also be returned directly to the rectory. As a re-
minder, CCD registration will close on Monday, September 15, 2015.
Confirmation classes are moving to a new night!!! Confirma-
tion classes will now be held on Sunday nights in the Rectory from 5—6
PM. This move is to help solve the problem of some of our teachers
having to rush from work to make classes and also to avoid conflicts with
school events for our Confirmandi.
Catechists are needed to help continue with the growth of our
program. Due to a lack of personnel the Summer Bible Camp could not
function this year. Would you be interested in giving some
time to the Catholic formation of our parish children? If
you can give a little time each week the rewards are eter-
nal!!!
Thank you and God Bless! Tabitha Aldrich

Pray for our Youth
Five youth from Holy Name attended the three day Kujenga retreat along
with Chaperon Patty January Anita Uzoamaka, Elly Soares, Adriyen Tom-
linson, Quintin Rocha and Malik Rocha. The purpose of Kujenga-
Viongozi is to develop leadership skills among youth and their families, in
the Black Catholic tradition, with Christ at the center of their lives. It is an
exciting retreat program that encourages high school youth to gain
knowledge about the role of people of African descent in the story of the
Catholic Church, past & present and to attain the skills to proclaim their
Catholic faith with confidence & commitment. . While this leadership
retreat experience targets Catholic youth of color, all youth are invited to
attend! Please pray for these young people and their leaders as they con-
tinue to journey in Faith.
Friends of the Poor Walk
This walk began as a national program with the purpose of providing local
Society of St. Vincent de Paul Conferences and Councils additional Funds
to help support their special works projects. Last year, over 22,000 walk-
ers raised $2.1 million nationwide. Here in the Diocese of Providence, we
had 300 walkers and raised over $45,000 for our Conferences throughout
RI. This year the Walk will be held on Sunday the 27th of September at
the Garden City Shopping Center in Cranston, RI. We’ll begin by joining
the nearby Parish Community of St. Mark’s Church for Mass at 9:30 AM,
followed by the Walk itself beginning at 11:00 AM. We will be walking a
one mile course through Garden City. It will be a great day of exercise,
fellowship and helping others. For more information visit: http://
svdpri.org/event/2015-friends-of-the-poor-walk/ or contact Mary Schenck
at (401)831-2771 or Sandra Schenck ($01) 954-6537.
