We love God and we love our neighbors. Yet each of us has different ideas on how to accomplish our mission in the world. That is what we need now. Ask yourself these questions and look for answers. We need your dreams and goals for the church no matter how crazy or far-fetched it might seem. We need new and bold expectations for our members in order to be the light of Christ to the world. It is not easy to be the church, but it is part of who we are as the Body of Christ in the world. Who is First Christian Church
of Thomas, Oklahoma? What do
we represent? What is our
mission? Where does our passion
take us? Where does our heart lay?
If someone were to ask you
about our church what would
you say? Could you respond
without hesitation? These are all
important questions for us to ask
ourselves during this time in our
history. We cannot be content to
rest comfortably in a world that is
changing by the minute.
Our church is more than what
we do during worship. Yet each of
us can struggle to define just
exactly who we are and what we
do. To me the basic answer is to
follow the great commandment.
Jesus [said], “The first is, “Hear, O
Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord
is one; you shall love the Lord
your God with all your heart, and
with all your soul, and with all
your mind, and with all your
strength.” The second is this, “You
shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
There is no other commandment
greater than these.’”
This is who we are. We love
God and we love our neighbors.
Yet each of us has different ideas
on how to accomplish our mission
in the world. That is what we need
now. Ask yourself these questions
and look for answers. We need
your dreams and goals for the
church no matter how crazy or
far-fetched it might seem. We
need new and bold expectations
for our members in order to be the
light of Christ to the world. It is
not easy to be the church, but it is
part of who we are as the Body of
Christ in the world. Let us work
together to redefine who we are as
Christians and in our community
for the greater glory of God.
Blessings,
Jason
