- Project Specifications The Innkeepers at the Centennial House had a dilema: How does one go about updating a historic landmark and making it energy efficient, without compromising the facade of the building? With help from the Sandri Companies, the Centennial House was able to both update their system and keep the historic integrity of their landmark. Sandri installed a fully automated Okofen PE 32 Pellet Boiler with auger feed from an internal Flexilo that stores 5.5 tons of pellets. This will replace 3,000 gallons annual heating oil usage with locally produced wood pellet fuel. Sandri also converted the building from steam to hot water, dramati- cally increasing the overall efficiency of the system. A section of the garage was converted into a boiler room for the new system. This will be used as the main source of heat and hot water in the building, producing 109,500 BTUs per hour and carrying more than 95 percent of the heating load in the house. Sandri intends to use the Centennial House as a demonstration site for antique homeowners who wish to reduce their dependency on oil while still preserving the style and character of their homes.
