The Legacy of Caring is hosted by Big Ca- noe Chapel Women’s Guild to benefit charitable organizations whose primary focus is the wellbeing of women and children.
Today we will host the Big Canoe Chapel Scholarship Awards Service. This ministry was initiated in 1982 with the goal of encouraging high school students to attend college. Today is the 36th successive year for this ceremony. Since its inception, over 2450 students have received awards totaling over $2,625,000. We thank God for enabling this church to be a part of the educational dreams of young people from Pickens and Dawson Counties. I hope you will pray for these young people as they go forth to fulfill their dreams.
In my brief address I share with the scholars, I will once again remind them that they stand on the shoulders of giants. There are parents, grandparents, siblings, teachers, and many others who have guided and encouraged them along the way. Don’t you remember the ones who guided and encouraged you? I’m especially reminded today of those people in my past who lived out the gospel. They were powerful witnesses to the grace and love of God. How blessed I am that they were in my life!
Every day we are given the opportunity to be a giant in someone’s life. You may not think of yourself as a giant but fully surrendered to the power of the Holy Spirit you can be! It happens in a number of ways. Sometimes it’s just a word at the right time. Many times it’s a note or a phone call or a monetary gift. At other times it may be something as simple as a lunch invitation and a listening ear.
Let’s all ask God to give us such a sensitivity to the needs of others that we will respond joyfully in the love of Jesus. By doing so prayerfully, I suspect that one day someone will think of you as a giant in their life. That’s a good way to be remembered.

Legacy of Caring, Bear Paw Bakery will be accepting your do- nations of homemade cupcakes, cakes, cookies, sweet rolls, brown- ies & snacks, including gluten-free and diabetic friendly items, in the Broyles Center kitchen from 10 am to 4 pm, on Thursday, May 17, and on Friday morning, May 18. The Legacy of Caring is hosted by Big Ca- noe Chapel Women’s Guild to benefit charitable organizations whose primary focus is the wellbeing of women and children.
Today we will host the Big Canoe Chapel Scholarship Awards Service. This ministry was initiated in 1982 with the goal of encouraging high school students to attend college. Today is the 36th successive year for this ceremony. Since its inception, over 2450 students have received awards totaling over $2,625,000. We thank God for enabling this church to be a part of the educational dreams of young people from Pickens and Dawson Counties. I hope you will pray for these young people as they go forth to fulfill their dreams.
In my brief address I share with the scholars, I will once again remind them that they stand on the shoulders of giants. There are parents, grandparents, siblings, teachers, and many others who have guided and encouraged them along the way. Don’t you remember the ones who guided and encouraged you? I’m especially reminded today of those people in my past who lived out the gospel. They were powerful witnesses to the grace and love of God. How blessed I am that they were in my life!
Every day we are given the opportunity to be a giant in someone’s life. You may not think of yourself as a giant but fully surrendered to the power of the Holy Spirit you can be! It happens in a number of ways. Sometimes it’s just a word at the right time. Many times it’s a note or a phone call or a monetary gift. At other times it may be something as simple as a lunch invitation and a listening ear.
Let’s all ask God to give us such a sensitivity to the needs of others that we will respond joyfully in the love of Jesus. By doing so prayerfully, I suspect that one day someone will think of you as a giant in their life. That’s a good way to be remembered.
