NIGHT SHELTER NOVEMBER 1-MARCH 31, “One Ministry—Two Locations”

All are welcome at the Shrine, including our homeless brothers and sisters. Did you know that on any given night, approximately 7,000 Atlantans are homeless? As the hot summer draws to a close, the Night Shelter Team is preparing for the upcoming season which keeps homeless men safe during the cold Atlanta winter weather. There are many ways to get involved, whether it is making sack lunches or breakfasts, preparing and serving supper, volunteering to stay overnight—experience is not required. Our first Sign-up is on Sunday, September 20th. Should you have any questions, please stop by the back of the church after either Mass on Sunday, August 30th to speak with the Night Shelter Team; otherwise, feel free to contact Jerry Arias at [email protected]

If the Shrine has touched your life, pray about remembering us with a gift in your estate or will.

Betti Knott, one of our long time members who is working for St. Vincent de Paul Society in Australia, has been battling cancer. We ask you to join friends around the world in praying for her healing through the intercession of Frederick Ozanam as one of the miracles leading to his canonization.

Prayer for the Canonization of Blessed Frederic Ozanam

God, our Father, you alone have the power to bestow those precious gifts of yours which we rightly call miracles. If it be your will, be pleased to grant such a gift on behalf of Betti Knott. We humbly ask that you grant this favor so that Blessed Frederic Ozanam may be canonized by our Holy Mother the Church. We make this prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son. Amen.

Dear faithful parishioners of the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception,

I greet you in the joy of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in whom we hope to be saved.

I come by this message to ask your support for our scholarship program for poor children and returnees from

the Dominican Republic, while counting on your great charity for your sister parish, Our Lady of the Nativity

in Malféty, Haiti which I have the honor of being present pastor.

Indeed, for over three years, the administration of Malféty Parish is in the greatest difficulty to honor

salaries of teachers at both our schools, in Malféty and Garate. Many of our families live in extreme poverty.

Yet, we still need to pay teacher and administrative salaries for the survival of our schools.

So to better help our parents with the financial burden to educate our children in the parish, we have initiated

a scholarship program and are asking for your support, our faithful parishioners of the Catholic Shrine and all

people of good willing to sponsoring one, two, or three of our children.

The beneficiaries of this scholarship program will be the children of the poorest families and children of

returning families from the Dominican Republic.

Your financial support of $200 for one child will cover:

1- a years Tuition

2- Uniform

3- Books

4- School materials

5- Food

We rely on the generosity of each of you and thank you in advance for your participation in this scholarship

program. God bless you and multiply what you have to live, but offered to help Jesus Christ in the poor

children who are his brothers and sister. In union of prayer,

Fr. Père Medenel Angrand

Today’s second offertory collection is set aside specifically for Haiti and 100% of the 2nd offertory collection will be put toward student scholarships in Haiti. The need is great, 170 students, between two schools. While we know we are unable to support all 170 students, the Haiti Outreach committee is committed to sponsoring as many children as possible. We, along with Fr. Angrand, ask for your generous consideration with the 2nd offertory collection next Sunday. For more information, on the scholarship program, the children we seek to sponsor, and our sister parish in Haiti, please stop by our table after the Mass.
