of their largest of the year requiring manpower, please contact Susan Gnann at 937-776-0353.
Again just as a reminder, I know people begin planning their summers early. The Knights of Columbus Night at the Dayton Drag-ons will be on Saturday July 1 at 7 PM. Cincinnati Archdiocesan has a Color Corps team that Posts and Retrieves the Colors at the Fourth Degree exempts and the State Convention. We are looking for some new members to help out with this very important program. We practice one or two times before the event, so there is not a lot of time for practices. If you are interested or would like more information, send me your name, phone number, and e-mail address and I will get in contact with you. CEMETERY OF THE INNOCENTS PROJECT
Dayton Right to Life’s Cemetery of the Innocents Project has been done the past years by St. Luke
and Ascension Parishes. The Church of the Ascension has had the display for several years during
Respect Life month on their property on Woodman Drive.
In the fall on 2016, Dayton Right to Life joined their efforts in expanding and promoting this educa-
tional display at other locations. It will continue to be displayed at Ascension Church each October.
The purpose of this display is to encourage and educate the community to pray for the victims of
abortions. The crosses represent the sheer numbers and the signs encourage prayer for the parents,
grandparents, the innocent children themselves, and many others affected by these tragic “ choices.”
Since Roe vs. Wade, over 60 million lives have been lost to abortions and many others scarred for
life. Pray for ALL victims of abortion.
For more information on this project or to donate to its support, contact Tom Pfahler at 461-3625

COLOR CORPS NEWS by Jim Gehring
"INSPIRATIONS OF FAITH"
FAITH FORMATION PRAYER God of Light and Truth thank you for giving us minds that can know and hearts that can love. Grant that we
may be ever aware of Your presence in all things, at all times, and know that Your unconditional love for us is
eternal. Lead us to grow in virtue each day, so that we may be always united with you and with each other, in
this life and in the next.
Guide us to become more compassionate and stronger in our Catholic Faith. Encourage and strengthen us
when living our Faith is difficult and when we are tempted to give up. Give us confidence when our brains
seem to slow to understand, and give us courage when the way forward is filled with struggles and challenges.
Fill us with Your choicest blessings and enrich our souls with Your grace. Grant us the wisdom, knowledge,
and understanding to be able to fully express all the talents and gifts You have entrusted to us. Help us share
our faith with others and explore the world You have created, certain that in Your love and goodness all will be
well in our lives according to Your Divine plan. Amen
(Note: adapted from prayers for students and parents in the Sisters of Charity booklet -- “MY TREASURED
CATHOLIC PRAYERS”)
I will tell a story of who I am
And use a rhyming cryptogram
To give you clues of what I’m made
The hints are intertwined and inlaid.
My life sprung from your first son’s life;
In my name, you endured pain and strife.
But what you’ve given has made us strong
And formed a union to which we belong.
Raised on a pole up high I pose,
A beacon of strength of all of those
Who believe its right to express our views
And have the freedom for all to choose.
I’ve stood before you from your start,
And am the symbol of your heart.
Beside and with you through it all;
I absolutely refuse to let you fall.
I’m not a person or a place
Yet I am to others your true face.
At times from cloth, yet made from toil,
From sweat and blood of people loyal.
I will be with you throughout the land,
And espouse the values for which we stand.
The hints herein have told my story;
I’m proud to be called Old Glory.
