THE
CANONBURY
DRINKS MENU
Established since the early 1700’s, the historic Canonbury Tavern is a proud feature of
Canonbury Place, serving an impressive array of real ale, craft beer, autumnal cocktails and more.
In 1846 The Canonbury Tavern was demolished and rebuilt on the same land. In the early
20th century the top floor was removed following a fire and never replaced. This is why the
wonderful staircase leads to nowhere.
George Orwell, who lived in Canonbury Square, wrote part of 1984 whilst sitting under the
tree in the garden in the 1940’s.
In 2009, after several years of closure, the pub was close to being turned into residential
accommodation before Lord Northampton decided that the building should remain a pub,
as it has done for almost 300 years. Since its renovation in 2015 it has become a haven of
Islington. Attracting everything from intimate
Sunday roast gatherings to grand wedding parties there is a little something for everyone.

OUR RECOMMENDED VODKAS
Sipsmith
Subtle but rounded sweet vanilla with a hint of biscuit
on the nose. Soft, smooth, creamy mouthful, delivering
a rounded, warming brightness. Deliciously delicate
vanilla and biscuit sweet finish.
Perfect serve: Fever-Tree Indian tonic and fresh lemon
Grey Goose
Clear, fresh with an elegant floral aroma, accented by a
subtle citrus note. Initially soft with a gentle sweetness
that gradually envelops the mouth - smooth and
rounded texture with a hint of almond. Fresh and
bright throughout with a long, satisfying finish.
Perfect serve: Elderflower, fresh lime and soda
Zubrowska
Lots of light grass aromas on the nose with a slight
earthy note coming through near the end. Rather a raw
beginning on the palate but mellows into a fresh, creamy
flavour of grass and vanilla with a slight kick of spice.
Becomes rather soft at the end.
Perfect serve: Ginger ale and fresh lime
