Re-development of the Business Register
The way business in Canada is done has undergone major changes since the mid-1980s when the original BR was implemented.
Technology has undergone change and STC has committed to removing the BR from the mainframe platform by 2008.
The rules and operational processes for updating units of the Register were too complex and the system was too inflexible to incorporate significant change.
