What are your plans to make this service year the best one yet?
Now that it’s May, most
incoming officers have
settled into their new
positions. This is the best time
to prepare for the new year.
Whether you are a member,
officer, or immediate past
officer/senior, there is no
wrong time to plan for the
future. Members, how will
you participate more in Key
Club next year? Officers,
what kinds of service
projects will your club be
doing? Immediate past
officers, how will you
continue to influence your
club? And last but not least,
seniors, how do you plan to
continue serving your home,
school, community, and
world? There are so many
answers to each of those
questions. Whatever you
decide, think about how
your decision will make an
impact on others and your
community. Caring–Our
Way of Life is the Key Club
motto. Take it to heart and
let it guide your service.
DIvision 21’s goals this year are to have all 13 clubs in their area have active status,
expand membership in the division, fundraise and increase awareness of Key Club
International and the Pacific Northwest District’s goals and projects, and have extensive
communication between all clubs regardless of distance.
However, our biggest goals are those stated by Key Club International:
To provide service, build character, and develop leadership.

KEY CLUB TURNS 88!!
Established by a local Kiwanis Club on May 7, 1925 at Sacramento High School in
California, Key Club has gone on to become the world’s oldest and largest service
organization for high school students. Key Clubs many achievements include obtaining
over 250,000 members in over 5000 clubs in 30 countries, raising over $1.3 million to fight
HIV/AIDS in Swaziland, raising more than $1.2 million for UNICEF to fight iodine deficiency
disorders (IDD), and much more. Key Club serves the world. Key Club members perform
acts of service in their communities, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing and
organizing food drives. Members also learn leadership skills by running meetings,
planning projects and holding elected leadership positions at the club, district and
international levels. Key Club has achieved so much and continues to thrive and grow. I
am proud to serve such an amazing organization.

Club Spotlight:
MONROE!
Monroe Key Club might be located farther from the center of the division than the average
Division 21 club, but that doesn’t stop them from staying involved! This month’s Club Spotlight
goes to Monroe Key Club for their involvement both in the division and in their community. As
many of you know, the Pacific Northwest District’s new District Treasurer is Eric Grewal from
Monroe High School. Monroe Key Club has great attendance at DCMs even though they
have to travel more than members of other clubs do. They also had attendees at Seattle Rally
and DCON! Even with AP testing and the year coming to end, the Monroe Key Club has
stayed very busy. A few weeks ago on Earth Day, their club cleaned up all the garbage on
the street leading up to their school. This week, they’re helping with the school's spring blood
drive. Later this month, they'll be cleaning up their school's Memorial Garden, aiding Maltby
Elementary in running their annual spring carnival, and babysitting at the last PTA meeting at
Fryeland Elementary as well as making posters to promote a project that will help seniors learn
how to use technology. I also heard their sponsoring Kiwanis Club compliment the Monroe
Key Club at the recent Kiwanis Division 22 DCM. Keep it up Monroe!

great places to meet Key Clubbers

Bumblebee Spirit by competing for the
coveted Spirit Stick, and learn about
what’s going on in the PNW District!
