It was, indeed, my mates correct email address being used but being the suspicious bastard I am, I phoned him at his place in Nowra - which is far from being an International des- tination. Yep, he was home and someone had hacked his email addy and was using it to send out a plea to all in his address book contacts in order to scam money. Being the person I am, I enjoy leading idiots down the garden path and enjoyed the next 3 days leading this idiot, in the Phillipines, into believing that I had sent him $2500au dollars to Western Union for him to pick up. After the initial contact between the scammer and myself, the scammer slightly changes the email address ( usually a hot- mail or yahoo email service ) and if you don’t pay attention, you won’t notice this change. It might only be a letter or number, but enough that your email replies are no longer going to the original addy. Amazing how long you can have these idiots dangling when they think they are getting money out of you. I sent him various receipt numbers for the money I had sent to Western Union. He is still wondering why he can’t access the money I have left for him. Considering the “plane” was leaving in an hour, I had them on the line for 3 days. Vale Ann Smith [nee Broadhead) Died On Friday, 14th. October, at Bupa Nursing Home, North
Rocks after a long illness.
Ann lived with her parents Stella & Ernie Broadhead at Bungo-
nia in what was originally “The Victoria Inn” in Eliza Champion
St. She went to Bungonia Public School , won a Secondary School
Bursary to go to Our Lady of Mercy College Goulburn as a
boarder and after completing training at Wagga Teacher’s Col-
lege, Ann taught in Sydney schools. Ann & Brian Smith were
married in St. Michael’s Church Bungonia & settled in West-
mead. On retirement Ann had time to pursue her interest in His-tory, especially Genealogy & was responsible for researching most
of the information for “Bungonia and District Cemetery & Burial
Records” This task involved weekly trips to the State Archives.
Ann collected other information relating to Bungonia , for example
lists of convicts in the Bungonia Area. Always methodical &
thorough her information was always accurate, well documented with the source shown. Her contribution to Bungonia history is an
important legacy.

spouses & children . Brian died in December 1996.
May she Rest in Peace.

MANSLAUGHTER AT GOULBURN Edward Byrd and George Makins were charged with having on
the 24th of March at Goulburn, killed one G. W. Gotwald.
Mr. Want, instructed by Mr. Wilkinson appeared for the prisoner
Makins. The prisoner Byrd was undefended.
The crown-prosecutor briefly stated the case for the crown, quot-
ing a case in point to show that both parties were equally guilty, as
they were both engaged in an unlawful act, and were acting in
concert.
The evidence in this case was fully given in the report of the in-
quest. The two prisoners were riding at a furious rate in Union-
street, North Goulburn, where Byrd's horse knocked down a
child named George William Gotwald, who was crossing the street.
The case was one of manslaughter arising from the negligence of
prisoner in riding at an improper rate in a public street.
After hearing the evidence Mr. Want addressed the jury. His
Honor having summed up, The jury retired, and after an absence of
half an hour, returned with a verdict of guilty against both prison-
ers, and recommended them both to mercy.
Mr. Want read one or two characters given to Byrd, and
Ambrose Bryant the master of the two prisoners gave them also a
first-rate character. Prisoners were remanded for sentence. The court
then adjourned till Monday.
SENTENCES
Edward Byrd and George Makins, convicted of manslaughter,
were sentenced, the former to be imprisoned in Goulburn jail for
one month, and the latter for one week.

Every two weeks I attend the Goulburn Blood Bank in Auburn St, and donate plasma which takes about 1.5 hours for the process to complete & can produce 17 different life saving products from that one donation. I used to attend and donate whole blood but you can only do that every 12 weeks which saves 3 lives. The girls down at the Blood Service are absolute crackers and you will thoroughly enjoy your time down there with them, have a few milk shakes and snacks before leaving and you know that your donation will be di-rectly used in a life saving situation. UNLAWFULLY MARRYING A MINOR
Charles Clout on bail was charged with
unlawfully marrying one Bridget Conlan,
the said Bridget Conlan being under the
age of twenty-one years, without the con-
sent of her father. Defendant pleaded not
guilty, and was defended by Mr. Want,
instructed by Mr. Betts.
The crown-prosecutor having stated the
case, called John Conlan residing near
Moss Vale, who gave evidence to the effect
that defendant had taken away his daughter
from the house of a man named Prosser,
where she was staying, and married her in
Sydney. This was without the consent of
witness, but from circumstances which
had since arisen he did not now object to
the marriage. At this stage his Honor di-
rected the jury to give a verdict of acquittal
and defendant was discharged.
