be increased.

BUNGONIA PROGRESS ASSOCIATION
Next Meeting: Monday, 10 March, 2014, 7.30pm at the Hall.
Clean up Australia: Sunday, 2nd. March: Contact Julia McKay 4844 4457. Our area isn’t very bad but unless we pick up the present rubbish it will be joined by new rubbish. Bags etc. will be at the Hall. If eve-
ryone, at least, collected the rubbish, bottles, cans, etc. from around their entrance, it would make a big difference. Help us ’Keep Bun-
gonia Beautiful’
Ardmore Park Quarry: . The Bridge over the creek has been installed. A company called Syngas “ has entered into an agreement
to acquire a quarry and civil engineering business in New South Wales” “The Heads of Agreement is with CEAL Ltd. and Multiquip
Aggregates to acquire a quarry owned by CEAL and the civil engineering business operated by Multiquip” Syngas is listed on the
Stock Exchange and its shares when last checked where worth $ .003. The company has had 6 previous names. See the separate lists
for more detailed information.
Kitchen: The roof is on and the windows installed, so slowly but surely we are getting there. If any one has a lazy $ or two lying
around our Treasurer, Diane, would love to hear from you. Large individual Donations of $10,000, $5,000 & $2,000 have been made to
upgrade the Kitchen by local people but more is needed.
Morning Tea: Welcome to our neighbours from Jerrara and Lumley Roads, hope you come again.

alcoholic wine or the real stuff) and enjoy the company of you neighbours..
Market Day: This isn’t till 19th. April but please circle the date and make sure you come along with lots of money to take advantage
of the great bargains. This year we plan on opening the Hall on Good Friday and offering fish cakes and other BBQ treats to the many
travelers passing through the village. The Progress Trash & Treasure will also be available for purchase. More details in the April is-

Statutory FIRE SEASON is NOW in force and PERMITS ARE REQUIRED FOR BURN OFFS.

Government should protect people & regulate corporations, not protect corporations & regulate people.

FIRE DANGER RATINGS Catastrophic For your survival, leaving early is the only option. Leave bush fire prone areas the night before or early in the day - do not just wait and see what happens. Make a decision about when you will leave, where you will go, how you will get there and when you will re-turn. Homes are not designed to withstand fires in cata-strophic conditions so you should leave early.
Extreme Leaving early is the safest option for your survival. If you are not prepared to the highest level, leave early in the day. Only consider staying if you are prepared to the high-est level - such as your home is specially designed, constructed or modified, and situated to withstand a fire, you are well prepared and can active-ly defend it if a fire starts.
Leaving early is the safest option for your survival. Well prepared homes that are actively defended can provide safety – but only stay if you are physically and mentally prepared to defend in these conditions. If you’re not prepared, leave early in the day.
Very High, High, Moderate - Low Review your Bush Fire Survival Plan with your family. Keep yourself informed and monitor conditions. Be ready to act if necessary. Usually, fire details are locally updated on the Bun-gonia Facebook page when circumstances permit.
Not local - but if you travel to Wollongong and think something is missing, you are right. The Pt Kembla copper
smelter stack, standing 650 feet tall, is now a pile of rubble after being demolished today, 20 Feb 2014 around
11.15am, by explosives and was certainly a sight to see this monolith fall.
WARNING
Watch your pets. At least two local dogs have been hit
by brown snakes last month and another brown was
caught in chicken wire trying to invade a chicken coup.
THANKS
Pauline, Simon and Kristen Dickson would like to
publicly thanks those who went out of their way in
looking after them and Alan over the weeks leading
up to Alans’ death and funeral. They very much ap-
preciate all of the care and friendship displayed, as
would of Alan.

MARULAN. AT the invitation of the host of the Terminus
Hotel a few friends of Mr. Wm. Ross assembled at a complimen-
tary dinner to wish him bon voyage on the eve of his departure for Scotland. Several toasts were honoured, and a very pleasant
evening was spent. Mr. and Mrs. Ross expect to be away about
six months. They have promised to bring some of their friends a
root of Scotch heather.
Wedding - A very pretty wedding took place at All Saints'
Church, Marulan, on Wednesday, when Mr. Carl Ferguson, son
of Mr. T. Ferguson J.P., married Miss Ethel Hatter, third daugh-
ter of Mr. John Hatter. The bride was given away by her father,
and was attended by seven bridesmaids. Rev. E. F. Timewell
officiated. The church was crowded with spectators.
WOW !!! rain at last so start planting your spring flowering bulbs for a colourful display later. Prune hydrangeas, remove a third of the
plant and trim to an outward facing bud. Take cuttings of geraniums and azaleas. Compost the leaves that have fallen during the dry
period.
A word about figs. There are many types of figs that are fr ee fruiter s but even these will struggle if not planted in a sunny,
warm, sheltered position, so find your sunniest spot. Figs will produce copious vegetative growth but will not fruit if they are grown in
fertile soil. Restrict their root run by growing in pots. However if you allow their roots to dry out they will abort the fruit. All figs are
self fertile and pruning is not essential to producing fruit although removing some foliage in summer can hasten fruit ripening. Plant now beetroot, broccoli, Brussels sprout, cabbage, carrot, leek, lettuce, par snip, shallots, silverbeet, spring onions, spinach
and turnips.
In the flower garden sow aquilegia, bellis., Canterbury bells, cornflower, delphinium, hollyhock, larkspur, pansy, polyanthus, primula
Every two weeks I attend the Goulburn Blood Bank in
Auburn St, and donate plasma which takes about 1.5 hours for the process to complete & can produce 17 different life saving products from that one donation. I used to attend and donate whole blood but you can only do that every 12 weeks which saves 3 lives. The girls down at the Blood Service are absolute crackers and you will thoroughly enjoy your time down there with them, have a few milk shakes and snacks before leaving and you know that your donation will be di-rectly used in a life saving situation. It is a great feeling to know that you are helping people that you might not even
know with the aid of your blood. The new opening hours are now: Monday Closed Tue 7.45am - 2pm Wed & Thu 11am - 7pm Fri 9.30am - 3.30pm Sat Closed

These blokes and women do an absolutely fantastic and critical job in responding to medical emergencies in this area and dedicate a lot of
their personal time in an effort to help and protect members of this, and other, communities.
C.F.R. Members are also member of the S.E.S., and are further trained in advanced First Aid techniques by the NSW Ambulance Service
and could be called upon to provide advanced first aid at roadside collisions and other emergencies in areas where there is no immediate
State ambulance service available or close by.
C.F.R. Members also have a positive working relationship with local Police, Ambulance and other emergency services.
In order to keep this vital C.F.R. Active in this community, further volunteers are urgently required. If you are interested in this line of
activity - please contact Kevin Muffet on 4844 7143 who will be more than glad to explain the processes to you.

The C.F.R. is still in need of suitable volunteers to join the
organisation as First Responders.
This would be a great career step for the younger folk
who are looking to get into the medical field Ambulance
Service, Police Force etc.
It would also be a great way for good local people to join
in a winning team who are out there to help others.
If you would like to join the S.E.S. / C.F.R. then give Kev
