Significant Educational Movements in History

Seneca Falls Convention of 1848: allowed for women’s right to education including the establishment of schools (Horany, 2002,

Touhill, 1969).

Morrill Act of 1862: Land Grant College Act that provided funding for higher education (Touhill, 1969).

19th Century: State Supervised Systems of Public Education (Rury, 2009).

1800’s: NAACP, Graduation of 1st African American and establishment of African Americans in education (Barger, 2004).

Establishment of Lancastrian, Common and Charity Schools (Rury, 2009).

Educational Plan To Meet the AYP

• Establish Peer Observation and Peer Assessment tools to aide teachers in planning and carrying out lesson plans effectively.

• Provide Collaboration time for educators to work together to determine best practices for all students.

• Plan Family School Nights once a month to encourage families to work with the school in meeting the students’ educational needs.

• Work with the Boys & Girls Club to provide after school tutoring for all students.

• Continue to offer Sample WKCE testing each school year as well as add Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Testing twice a year.
