This may only be Dr. Liu’s second quarter teaching at Cal Poly, but believe me, he knows his stuff. After completing his un-dergraduate work in China, Dr. Liu re-ceived his Masters and Ph. D at Universi-ty of Missouri. His Master’s degree is in Mechanical Engineering and his Ph. D is in Biological Engineering. To top it off, Dr. Liu is fluent in Mandarin, Japanese and English! Dr. Liu came to Cal Poly right after graduating. He chose to work at Cal Poly because of our famous philos-ophy of Learn by Doing. He believes in the importance of applying knowledge to
real world problems. We are so fortunate to have such a qualified teacher in our department.
Dr. Liu teaches BRAE 216, BRAE 324, BRAE 328 and BRAE 425. His cours-es are in the areas of Fundamentals of Electricity, Measurements and Computer Interfacing. His research interests include power ultrasonics, mechatronics, sensors and instrumentation, and agricultural safety. He is the faculty advisor for the ASABE Robotics Club and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engi-neers. In his free time, Dr. Liu enjoys fishing and traveling. He thinks that some of the coolest places he has visited are deserts in China. Make sure to stop by his office and introduce yourself if you haven’t already! His office hours are M/W from 8-9:30am and T/R 8-9am.
