INTRODUCTION This document was created over 10 years ago before the grammatometric calculators. I have checked the verse sums against them to insure they are all correct, but I have not verified the accuracy of the phrase and sentence numberings. I have achieved my own versing of the Book of Law, after realizing Crowley’s must be incorrect, and that is what this document uses. Please see my document The Nv Versing of the Book of Law for more on this. I cannot go into a big analysis of the overall sum of the Book of Law at this time, as I am not confident I’ve hit the right mercuriality. No one else has either, since I suspect III:47 should be numbered as 4774 in light of my solution as detailed in my essay The Book of Law III:47 4774 Solution. As to my rules for numbering English, I do not number ampersands, and I think this is the correct rule. I have decided to not number misspellings, since it is clear what the intended word was in the communication. My other numbering choices are detailed below. I am releasing this in an unfinished state now because it may help a few people.
General Unclear Areas I:13 I number the inserted text rather than the instructions given to insert it. I:24 I do not use Crowley’s “the omnipresence of my body” here, I like the original “unfragmentary non-atomic fact of my universality.” I prefer Nuit’s original words, and like that “the unframentary non-atomic fact” = 330 in serial English. I:35 I number Θεληµα as 48, its serial Greek value.
I:54 I number צ as 18, its Serial Hebrew value, since I am using Serial English as well.
I:58 I include “The shape of my star is” in the verse. II:49 4 is numbered as 4. II:76 I number “(24)” and “(89)” as 24 and 89, the rest of the numbers I take at face value. II:78 418 is numbered as 418.
III:19 718 is numbered as 718. III:37 I number the inserted text rather than the instructions given to insert it. III:38 I number the inserted text rather than the instructions given to insert it. III:47 I number the verse as 4898 exoterically, but to 4774 esoterically. In the latter the “line drawn” = -127 from the letters it touches and subtracts, while the “circle squared” = +3 from its stroke count. III:72 This verse I am least sure about. I do not believe it is “Copha,” as the “a” is crossed out, but there is an “I” left. I suppose “force of Coph Nia-I” would be best. III:75 I include “The Book of the Law is Written and Concealed. Aum. Ha.” In my versing of III:75, but this may not be correct.
Technical Areas of Consideration I here consider more technical areas. I:1 “Had!” may have been written after the fact, but I include it in my numbering. I:2 I use “unveiling,” despite any spelling correction. I:5 Ditto. I:7 I use “Hoor-paar-kraat.” I:10 I use “rule.” I:14 I use “ye.” I use “the” before prince priest, but it may just be “a” originally. I:18 I use “azure.” I:20 I use “secret.” I:21 I use “there” rather than “their,” since Crowley may have corrected this at the original time of writing. I:22 I use “thereof,” since Crowley may have changed this from “therefore” at the original time of writing. It is a bit suspicious though, as “do ye also thus” makes more sense with the latter. I:25 I use “art,” since Crowley may have corrected this from “are” at the original time of writing and it is the correct word to be used for Edwardian English. I:27 I use “division,” but am skeptical it was overwritten at the original time of writing, “disunion” being the original, since “disunion” and “dissolution” create the play of both words beginning with “dis-.“
I:28 I use “joys.” I doubt the “s” was added later, since it would create so much space between the “y” of “joy” and the colon. I:33 I use “unto,” since the overwrites seem clarifications of the word. I:40 I use “unassuaged,” although it hard to see if it is spelled right. I use “delivered” and “perfect.” I:42 The “r” of “hundred” does seem to be missing, but I use “hundred” as that was the word intended. I:43 It may be that it was originally “they half the half,” but I use “they have the half,” since Crowley may have corrected this at the original time of writing and it makes more sense. I:45 I use “Abrogate are all rituals,” but it may be the command to “Abrogate all rituals,” since there is an arrow adding the “are” in. I use “at the Equinox,” the overwritten “at” is either a spelling clarification or it could have been “on.” I use “Hoor,” I don’t see that it may have been “Har” originally. I:46 I use “tried,” but admit it may have been “true” originally, the dot on the “i” and the “d” may have been added later. I:47 I use “Will,” though it may be that “Wll” was not corrected until after the fact. I use “Amn,” but it could be either “Aum” or even “Amen.” I do not use the crossed out “but.” I:49 I use “ecstasy” rather than the misspelled “ecstay,” since that was the intended word. I:55 I use “sacrifice,” although the “i” in it may have been added later. I:59 I use “am” rather than “ame” and “drunkenness” rather than the possible “drunkkenness.” I:60 I use “flame of the hearts of all” but “flame of the” is inserted above the sentence. The question is why Crowley would supplant this in later. It seems unlikely he would unless waxing poetic, which leads me to believe he heard it but did not write it all then corrected his mistake at the time of the reception. I:61 I use “rapturous” rather than the apparent misspelling of “repturous.” II:1 I use “Nu!” It is written a bit to the left, but if it was not there originally “the” would be capitalized, and it is not. II:12 “Not” of II:11 may have been written after the fact, it is hard to say, but at
present I would suggest to just capitalize “For why?” in the typeset version. II:19 I use “dog,” it seems like Crowley made an ill formed “g” here and corrected it. II:21 I use “that lie,” I believe there was just an ill-formed “a.” II:22 I do not think “prophet” is misspelled. II:26 I use “up,” it seems a correction at the time of writing. II:27 I use “miss” and “Reason.” II: 31 I use “If.” II:32 I use “Also.” II:43 I use “Nu,” but it may be “Nut.” However it seems the “t” is an ampersand. II:45 I use “dogs.” II:58 I use “or” of “or lifted up.” II:64 I use “art” in line with Edwardian English, though “are” was overwritten, so this is controversial. I use “passionate,” as I doubt it was originally just “passion.” III:73 I use “and,” even though Crowley forgot the “d.”
