Overview

London and Paris. Both historic capital cities boast world-class museums, instantly

recognizable landmarks and buzz with commerce, politics, education and culture. But it’s

what separates them that makes them most intriguing: the languages, the aesthetics, the

food, the attitudes. Compare for yourself on this extraordinary journey that combines field

trips led by top-notch Road Scholar experts and abundant time for independent discoveries.

Highlights• Step inside Kensington Palace, the residence of royals including Princess Diana, and

visit the Royal Mews.

• Experience the English countryside with a visit to Canterbury.

• Uncover the great artistic treasures of Paris at the Musee d’Orsay and

the Musee Rodin.

• Spend a full day at Versailles, experiencing the royal residence that set the standard

for all that came after.

• Enjoy free time to explore the neighborhoods, historic sites, pubs and cafes of

London and Paris.

Activity Rating: Active — 3–5 hours of walking and standing per day. Extensive use of the

London Tube and Paris Metro system, often accessed only by stairs.

line to the National Portrait Gallery. Spanning six centuries of history, the

Gallery tells the story of Britain through portraits of men and women

who have made a significant contribution to British life. From Elizabeth I

and Henry VIII to Shakespeare, Cromwell, Nelson, Dickens, Churchill and

Beckham, gain an overview of the collection, seeing the highlights on

display. After lunch, enjoy a walking exploration of London with some free

time to explore on your own.

magnificent Canterbury Cathedral and city walls and enjoy the beautiful

countryside of Kent, one of England's most beautiful counties.

Day 5: Tuesday, May 26 Discover Kensington Palace / Hyde Park

Start the morning with a special presentation: “Diana, Glimpses of

a Modern Princess.” Later, coach to Kensington Palace. As part of

Kensington’s transformation, “Victoria Revealed,” an exciting new

ons to the rooms at the hotel. After lunch, explore the world’s largest

Impressionist painting collection at the Museum. This evening, enjoy an

evening exploration of the City of Lights.
