The benefactor God listened to the cries of human beings and
sent Guru Nanak to this world. With the emergence of the true Guru,
the mist cleared and the light scattered all around. As if at the
rise of the sun, the stars disappear and the darkness dispells.
Wherever the Guru put his feet a religious place was
established.

One day when it was very hot summer noon the Guru drove the
cattle towards one shady tree. The buffaloes felt relieved standing
under that tree and the Guru also put his long towel on the ground
and sat down. After sometime Nanak lay down and fell asleep. With
the passing of the time the shade of the tree shifted and hot rays
of sun began to fall on his naked face.
Slide 6
Suddenly a big cobra came and spread out its large hood over
the face of the sleeping Nanak. By chance ruler of the village
named Raae Bulaar was returning home with his servants, after
assessing the ripened crops. When they came near that shady tree,
Raae Bulaar was alarmed to see the Guru lying fast asleep unaware
of a big cobra beside him.
Slide 7
He at once ordered his servants to rush on that direction with
sticks in their hands. When the cobra saw someone coming towards
him, it vanished into the nearby shrubs. In the mean time Raae
Bulaar approached near Nanak and found him fast asleep. He was
pleased to see Nanak alive. His servants told him that when they
came near, the cobra folded its hood and ran away. They felt
ashamed that they could not kill it.

But Raae Bulaar said, The cobra was not an ordinary snake, the
god had sent him to protect Guru Nanak from the scorching heat of
the sun. The cobra had not approached Guru Nanak to kill him, but
it had come there to provide him shade.
