CALL TO CONFESSION
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
You, O Lord, have called us to enter into your gates with thanksgiving, yet how often we
grumble and complain. You have blessed us in many aspects of our lives, yet so often we lack
a basic gratitude for all that is wonderful in creation and in life. Restore us to joy through
worship, to grace through living, and to love in all of our relationships. Remind us in all of our
living of the tremendous, heart warming gift of your Son, Jesus Christ, Our Lord, and
Redeemer. It is in His name that we ask this. (Silence for personal confession)

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH from a Brief Statement of Faith
In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of
Israel, whom alone we worship and serve. We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing the sick and binding
up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel. Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain and giving his life for the sins of the world. God raised this
Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life eternal.

Reverend Chris Thomas is leaving us to accept a call as
head minister. If you are interested in contributing to a
farewell gift for him and his family, please put it in an
envelope, mark it as such, and place it in the collection
plate. You can also send a check, made out to FPCP to
the attention of Stu Dodge, noting it is intended for the
Chris Thomas farewell fund. All donations need to be
received by Wednesday, February 24, 2016. The gift
will be presented at the February 28 services.
Malawi Food Shortage / Oasis Fundraiser Thank you to all who attended Movie Night to support the Oasis high school group’s fundraiser for the Malawi Hunger Crisis. They raised $758 which is already in Malawi helping to buy grain and flour for people who have little or no food. This will truly be prayers answered. And thank you to the high schoolers (Riley Stewart, Abby Macek, Sydney Graham, Isabel Ewers, Bryce Marmaduke and Paul McCubbrey) for planning and carrying out the fundraiser.
Flint Water Crisis Response The Local and National/International Mission committees have been researching how FPCP members can assist people in Flint affected by the contaminated water crisis. Our local contacts, First Presbyterian Church of Flint (746 Saginaw St. Flint, MI 48502) and the Presbytery of Lake Huron, recommend the following actions: 1. Volunteer your time to assist local agencies. You can find specific opportunities through the Volunteer
Reception Center housed at the American Red Cross. Go online at: http://www.flintvolunteer.com/volunteer-opportunities.html 2. Make a donation to First Presbyterian Church of Flint designated for “Water Aid”. The church is partner-
ing with the Community Foundation of Greater Flint (www.cfgf.org) to support treatment of the sick, testing of water supplies and improved nutrition of affected people in Flint.
We will stay in touch with Flint churches and keep you up to date on the response and additional needs as more is learned. They ask us to keep the people of Flint in our prayers.
Thank you so much for the thoughts and

the beauful flowers delivered by Joyce

The Local Mission Committee needs your help! Beginning in January of this year, our church will be preparing and serving community dinners at Second Mile Center in Detroit on the 4th Monday of each month. We are looking for volunteers to come and help with the serving. The time involved is roughly 4 pm—8 pm.
The remaining dates for the spring are: February 22, March 21, April 18 and May 23. If you are interested in serving one or more of these dinners, please sign up on the Local Mission Board located across from the receptionist window on the first floor of the church. We hope you will join us as we begin this new ministry outreach!
Salvation Army “Keep it Clean” Drive During the month of February, the Deacons are collecting dental and general hygiene items for the Salvation Army. If you have questions, please contact Tom Ford at [email protected] or (313) 319-4790.

reading the criteria found on the back of the form, please complete and return to the Deacon mailbox (located by the night watchman’s desk). Please place in a sealed envelope marked “Unsung Hero Committee.” Nominations are due by March 7th. The Unsung Hero Award will be awarded at the

It is very uncommon for a public high school choir and a public college choir to join together in this manner, and it’s a wonderful way to support and encourage excellent choral music. This large combined choir will sing a variety of music during this concert which is prior to each choir leaving independently for European tours - PCEP to Italy and EMU to England, Scotland and Wales.
