ALYESKASKI/SNOWBOARD ADVENTUREMarch 23 – 25, 5 p.m. departure. Fee: $175 per person

Venture for the weekend at Alyeska Resort. ORC provides transportation, lodging and a lift ticket. Participants will need to provide their own food, ski/snowboard gear (bring your own or rent), and warm clothes.

THE WHITE MOUNTAINS SNOWMACHINE TRIPMarch 10, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.Age: 18+, $50 per person

Take a snowmachine run with the Outdoor Recreation staff to the White Mountains National Recreation Area. Participants will depart at 8:30 a.m. from the ORC. Transportation, snowmachines, and helmets are provided. Participants should bring lunch, drinks, and cold weather clothing.

WOMEN IN THE WILDERNESS:CROSS COUNTRY SKIINGMarch 31, 9 a.m. Fee: $5/person.

Join us as we head out on a women’s only cross country ski trip to one of our many local trails. This is a great way to enjoy our spring weather. If you have never skied before, no problem! Our guides will have you skiing in no time. We provide transportation, ski equipment and instruction. Remember warm clothes, lunch and water.

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING LESSONSArrange with instructor. call 361-2652. Age: 10 and older. Fee: $5 per person

Sessions run between 45 minutes and an hour. Equipment is provided. Lessons will be postponed if the temperatures falls below -10°F.

March 3 and 24, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fee: $115 per person (ages 12+)For children 7 to 11 years of age, Families may call Pascale at the Northern Sky Lodge (907) 388-9954.

Half day mushing, half day snowmachining! All in one day. This program is conducted in conjunction with the Northern Sky Lodge. Half the participants will dog mush and the other half will make a snowmachine run to the Tanana Flats . The participants will then switch programs for the second half of the day. If the temps drop below -10 degrees this event will be postponed to a warmer day. Northern Sky Lodge will provide sleds, dog teams and instructions Outdoor Recreation will provide transportation, snowmachines, helmets and leadership for the snowmachine trip. Lunch is provided but participants should bring snacks and drinks for the trail.

Fort Wainwright’s HIRED! Apprenticeship program is open to its dependents of active duty, DOD civilian, and retired military personnel. All participants must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.
