Competitors Participants include four sovereign countries (the Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, and Palau), a commonwealth in political union with the United States (the Northern Mariana Islands), an organized unincorporated territory of the United States (Guam), and the four constituent States of the Federated States of Micronesia (Chuuk, Pohnpei, Kosrae and Yap, which compete separately from one another).
These ten countries, States and territories are all located within the Micronesian region of Oceania.
All participants also take part in the Pacific Games, although the Federated States of Micronesia competes as a unified country there.
Events Athletes compete in the fields of athletics, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, coconut tree climbing, coconut husking, fast pitch softball, golf,
slow pitch softball, spearfishing, swimming, table tennis, triathlon, va'a canoe, volleyball and wrestling, as well as the "micro all around".
The Micronesian Games thus combine events that may be found in other international competitions with events more specific to Micronesian countries. Coconut tree climbing and coconut husking appear to have been demonstration events at the 2006 Games: they are listed as events on the Games' official website, but are not listed on the results and medals' page.
Mini SPG 2005 Six teams entered the competition and it was great to see the support from Solomon Islands and New Caledonia at these Games. We hope that you enjoyed Palau and playing in our facilities. The Final Standings were: Guam (who were undefeated) Palau FSM New Caledonia Northern Marianas Solomon Islands.

CALEDONIA 2011 – BASEBALL For the fourth Games in succession since debuting in Guam in 1999, Men’s
Baseball has been selected as one of the 15 optional sports on the 2011 Pacific Games program. New Caledonia will no doubt be a contender in front of their enthusiastic home fans and will be out to claim their first ever Baseball gold medal. Palau is the defending champions from the 2007 South Pacific Games in Apia, which makes their pedigree difficult to overlook.
However, the hot favourite will be Guam, who were absent from the 2007 Games, but who first claimed victory at home in 1999, then again in the Suva 2003
Games and finally winning their third successive gold medal at the Palau 2005 Pacific Mini Games. But that was six years ago and a new generation of Guam Baseballers will no doubt be very keen to taste success.
The Baseball Confederation of Oceania (BCO), through its parent body, the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) has Ray Brown to be the official Technical Delegate to ensure the competition is conducted according to IBAF rules. Ray is currently serving as the BCO’s Development Officer in Oceania, so brings abundant knowledge and experience to this important role.
Baseball is scheduled from 29 August – 9 September and will take place in Mont Dore, one of the regional centres in the greater Noumea area.
