PreparationsEnglish weak from Vikings and stormWilliam landed in Penvensy.English quickly respond.

The BattleWilliam used archers to weaken enemy.Infantry and cavalry would then charge.English shield wall stopped archers.Williams army began to retreat.Williams horse was killed.William lead a counter-attack.

The BattleBattle began to turn in Williams favor.English nobles killed.English scattered and shot with arrows.Legend says Harold is shot in eye.Without Harold or nobles English fled.

AftermathWilliam waited for submission.After no success he marched to London.Dysentery weakened William and army.William is crowned on Christmas day.

LegacyMost land was given to Normans.William gave away land for little cost.Land owners had to subdue natives.Conquest of England was easy.
