  In 1776, the Revolution was nolongerapoliticalcrisisoracolonialrebellion,as ithadbegan. Now itwas a military victory over GreatBritainandanessentialsuccess,butnot for Americans as a whole.Starting in 1775, transformationsensued when independence andformationofnewgovernmentstooktheir rightful place. It broughtaboutanewvisionofthefutureandwhatitmightholdforthesepeople.ThistransformationwasnotjustforAmerica’s government, but forsociety as whole. Americans hadbeguntobelievetheRevolutionwasjust a reordering concept ofrepublicanism.

  The need for virtue was great and many longed for it.Republicanism in this lightwas, nomatter how looked at, “aradical ideology.” Thepolitical separation fromEngland lentitself to a dimension of moral and idealism. Republicanismintensified the radical way of country ideology, ideology theAmericansborrowedfromEnglishsociety.

  Thecurrentsofthoughtwereclassicalandratherquitesimple.ItdatedbacktothedeclineoftheancientRomanRepublicandishowtheideasandvaluesoftherepublicanlifestyleandbeliefsystem came into society. Renaissance writers also chargedforth in their writings the republicanismway of life. It wastaken to a whole new level and everyone seemed to want apieceoftheproverbialpie.

  ItwasanexcitingmovementoftheRevolutionandthevaluesof classical republicans and images of Americans throughEuropeansmeshedtogether.
