Summary of Turbo Pump Vibration Measurements
– All the turbos “see” each other, vibrational modes from neighboring pumps show up in the measured pump.
– Spacing rotational speeds between pumps can help reduce vibration levels, but each system appears to be unique.
– We are delivering new systems at P2=963Hz, P3=1250Hz, P4=1100Hz, P5=963Hz, P6=1150Hz.
– If your pumps are running fine at the default speeds we don’t recommend changing speed.

About the Inter-lock System• Two different electrical circuits for ToF
AMS systemsy– TPS (P5)– Vaporizer and vaporizer bias (P4 and P6).
a problem can exist if P6 fails
• Master interlock (software) will shut down all pumps triggering both electrical circuits.
Pump Control Firmware UpdatesMost recent version 4.45
//****************V4.43****************** // active breaking // fi d P 5 ff t t t bl (ACSM l )
Master Interlock, softstart, active braking, pump speed setting.
// fixed Pump 5 off at restart problem (ACSM only)
//****************V4.44******************// corrupt display problem with this version// Implements Varians fix for V81 speed setting.
//****************V4.45******************// pump speeds saved, read and set at power up.

Aerosol Sample Line Flow ControllerDec 2009
Simple low power and light weight
Pulls flow thru a cyclone inlet and delivery line tubing.
Combines a blower and a mass flow meter with active flow regulation.
Easily incorporated into the AMS and ACSM systems but can also be used for other instrumentation.

PortaMetPortable Meteorological Station
Remote Head Base Unit
Remote head contains met sensors and is actively ventilated by a fan. I just added the aluminum shield for
additional solar baffling.
Optional base unit provides easy data logging to a USB stick with date/time stamp ands also has a GPS engine.
The remote head can be operated independently from the base unit with a direct connection to any RS232 port.
GPS antenna 12VDC power
Rear panel connections
USB stick Data cable – RJ12
RS232
Currently not connected
USB stick
Solid state storage.
(Do not use USB hard drive)

AMS Maintenance• Clean vacuum chamber surface
Ch k f l / i i• Check for loose/missing connections/fasteners
• Clean cooling fan filters• Check for stressed cables• Always monitor pump performance• Always monitor MD1 pressure (load/no load) • Dirt inside computer• Dirt on computer HD (clean up and defrag)
