Henry Kissinger is quoted as saying that it is the task of the leader to get
people from where they are to where they have not been. As members of
the National Association of Legal Assistants we are acutely aware of fellow
paralegals that time and again contribute selflessly to the future of the
paralegal profession.
The NALA President’s Award recognizes outstanding accomplishments
of NALA members and their contribution to the future of the paralegal
profession through their leadership activities within NALA and
NALA affiliated associations.
Award recipients must be current NALA members, must have held
membership for at least two years, and must have at least five years of experience as a paralegal. The
recipients of the President’s Award have contributed greatly to the paralegal profession through their
work with NALA affiliated associations, and through their volunteer work on NALA committees and
task forces. Some on this list are also former presidents of NALA and are continuing their service to
the paralegal profession. Current NALA Board Members are not eligible for the President’s Award. The
nomination form is due May 1. Nominations must be submitted by NALA active members, and
nominees must be active members of NALA.
Each year the President of NALA appoints the President’s Award Committee. Former recipients of
the President’s Award are eligible to serve on the President’s Award Selection Committee. The duty of
the committee is to review nominations and submit their selection to the NALA Board of Directors. The
President’s Award may be awarded annually. The judging criteria for the President’s Award is:
1. How member was involved in the contribution.
2. Association and leadership achievements.
3. Community involvement and/or leadership position in community nonprofit corporation.
4. Must be a NALA member in good standing.
The recipient of the President’s Award is announced during NALA’s Annual Meeting of the
membership.
Although the deadline for the 2019 awards program has expired, detailed descriptions and
application form for the President’s Award is available on the NALA Website at: https://www.nala.org/sites/default/files/files/banner/Presidents%20Award%20Nomination%20Form.pdf
with the NALA President’s Award! Karen was recognized
for her outstanding contribution to the paralegal
profession through her work with NALA affiliated
associations, and through her volunteer work on
NALA committees and task forces. Karen is an
immediate Past President of LSPA, as well as a Past
President of NALA.
Congratulations, Karen! We appreciate your
continuing service to the paralegal profession and your
contributions to the membership of the Louisiana State
Paralegal Association.
