The Well Travelled Australian
Most Japanese sockets are 2 pin only. Australian regulations require that a 2 pin Japanese adaptor can only accepta 2 pin Australian plug. It can be difficult to get an Australian to Japanese adaptor in Japan, so if you are travellingwith a 3 pin Australian appliance, we recommend taking the Korjo Europe adaptor and obtaining IN JAPAN (ask atyour hotel or purchase) a Europe to Japan adaptor.
• Voltage is the power coming through the wall socket and there are two systems in place around the world:110v-120v (e.g USA, Canada, Japan and Spain) & 220-240v (most of the world, including Australia)
It is very important that electrical appliances be used with the correct voltage. Many appliances are only designedto be used with either the 110v or 240v system, but not with both.
• A Dual voltage appliance is capable of working using both voltage systems. Some will have a switch, like theKorjo Travel Irons, Korjo Foldaway Hairdryer & Korjo Travel Jug, whilst others may automatically workin either voltage system, like the Korjo Water Boiler.
ADAPTORS alter the pin configuration of an electrical appliance so that the plugs can fit into various powersockets used in different countries. Adaptors do not alter the voltage coming from the socket.
TRANSFORMERS DO alter the voltage, allowing a 100-120v appliance to be used with a 220-240v powersupply and vice versa.
The Korjo Step Down Transformer (SDT 98) enables small 110 – 120 v appliances (less than 24w/200mA)with 2 pin USA / Japan plugs to be used in Australia / NewZealand.(Ideal for phone chargers, camera chargers and some shavers…)The 2 Pin USA/Japan apliances plug into the SDT 98 which isthen plugged into the Australian wall socket.
Australian laptop computers come with an RJ 11 / RJ 12 modem attachment which can be plugged straight intothe phone socket in the wall. This system is used in many countries, but there are some major countries that useother systems – meaning an adaptor is needed. The Korjo MA14 kit contains adaptors for the RJ11 / RJ 12 to the 7most common types of connections, allowing you to use your modem in over 60 additional countries. See table below.
