The Abortive Conquest of Canada
Megan McGill
• British set fire to the rain in Falmouth (Portland), Maine in October of 1775
• Colonists tried to attack Canada so the British couldn’t use it as an asset, but failed when General Richard Montgomery died and the colonists fled for home
• Colonists also kicked Brits out of Boston (Evacuation Day March 1776) and South had 2 wins in 1776 (Moore’s Creek Bridge, NC and Charleston Harbor)
??????????????????????????
•Were the colonists legitimate in their attack
on Canada or was it a wrongful invasion of the
French’s land?
