The 56Khz Makro Gold Racer. This 56Khz detector is designed to find the smallest item from the ground such as Gold flakes, Gold nuggets, Micro Jewelry such as gold ear studs and even sewing needle at 6 inches in a air test (as an indication of size) that other normal sub 56Khz detectors may not be able to find and is one of the most sensitive machines I have ever used to date.. Please note that this is not a coin or relic detector It is designed to detect very small gold nuggets – for example under 1 gram. and is a detector that a typical gold prospector or a micro jewelry hunter would use. It can find coins and items which I have found such as a small silver hammered but is not primarily designed for this. I will be reviewing this over the coming months and reporting on its progress .and its finds. My first impression of the Makro Gold Racer was a completely new redesigned LCD display layout, with audio boost, tone break control, iSAT and iMask control. It has a nice touch added by way of a golden shaft and a gold ringed camlock. First appearances look impressive. All user settings can now be saved unlike on the Standard Makro Racer. The Makro Gold Racer looks like a copy of the Makro Racer at first glance but its not just a Racer running at a higher frequency, it’s a detector designed to customers needs and all comments and improvements from previous Racer users taken on board to create an improved detector called the Makro Gold Racer., The vibration facility has now been omitted so is not really suitable for those who have no hearing at all and wish to partake in the hobby. The Gold Racer is a nice lightweight detector weighing just 3 pounds with the standard coil, whilst other detectors on the market can look heavy and awkward. The handle has been redesigned and after using it for several hours, there is no arm ache like I had with the first Makro racer that I reviewed. The arm strap and cup is nice and wide and I find that I can slip my arm in with a thick camouflage jacket without any problem. As for the VDI display all metal functions are on the left, and discrimination functions are on the right. I think the new display with its nice big numerical read out on the middle of the screen is more intuitive and better accommodates the extra functions implemented on the Gold Racer. There are some extra features such as the Audio Boost and Audio Tone that are not shown on the display panel but are activated by pressing certain keys and the trigger, and a reminder of these functions are displayed on the battery cover underneath the detector.

The 56Khz Makro Gold Racer.
This 56Khz detector is designed to find the smallest item from the ground such as
Gold flakes, Gold nuggets, Micro Jewelry such as gold ear studs and even sewing
needle at 6 inches in a air test (as an indication of size) that other normal sub 56Khz
detectors may not be able to find and is one of the most sensitive machines I have
ever used to date..
Please note that this is not a coin or relic detector It is designed to detect very small
gold nuggets – for example under 1 gram. and is a detector that a typical gold
prospector or a micro jewelry hunter would use. It can find coins and items which I
have found such as a small silver hammered but is not primarily designed for this. I
will be reviewing this over the coming months and reporting on its progress .and its
finds.
My first impression of the Makro Gold Racer was a completely new redesigned LCD
display layout, with audio boost, tone break control, iSAT and iMask control. It has a
nice touch added by way of a golden shaft and a gold ringed camlock. First
appearances look impressive. All user settings can now be saved unlike on the
Standard Makro Racer.
The Makro Gold Racer looks like a copy of the Makro Racer at first glance but its not
just a Racer running at a higher frequency, it’s a detector designed to customers
needs and all comments and improvements from previous Racer users taken on
board to create an improved detector called the Makro Gold Racer., The vibration
facility has now been omitted so is not really suitable for those who have no hearing
at all and wish to partake in the hobby.
The Gold Racer is a nice lightweight detector weighing just 3 pounds with the
standard coil, whilst other detectors on the market can look heavy and awkward.
The handle has been redesigned and after using it for several hours, there is no arm
ache like I had with the first Makro racer that I reviewed.
The arm strap and cup is nice and wide and I find that I can slip my arm in with a
thick camouflage jacket without any problem.
As for the VDI display all metal functions are on the left, and discrimination functions
are on the right. I think the new display with its nice big numerical read out on the
middle of the screen is more intuitive and better accommodates the extra functions
implemented on the Gold Racer. There are some extra features such as the Audio
Boost and Audio Tone that are not shown on the display panel but are activated by
pressing certain keys and the trigger, and a reminder of these functions are displayed
on the battery cover underneath the detector.
Now custom user settings can be saved on the Gold Racer so you are ready to go
unlike the standard Racer where settings were lost when the detector was switched
off. Setting back to Factory default is also easy to by pressing the corresponding
buttons as shown in the handbook
Easy to use single menu design

Ground Balance with
3 Options:
Automatic, Manual,
Tracking.
Whilst the Makro Racer is a 14Khz machine the Makro Racer Gold is a 56Khz machine
and is capable of picking up the smallest item and is in fact very sensitive on small
items.
The coils are both different. The coils can only be used on the Racers they were
supplied with, as the frequency settings are different and are not interchangeable
between detectors. The Makro racer has black coils and the Makro Gold Racer has
white coils. The two Makro Gold Racer coils, the small 5” and the medium 10" x 5.5"
would be good for stubble as it would hover over the stubble instead of getting
caught in it due to their flat bases and it being a closed elliptical coil.. Makro has
listened to its customers as they have improved the coil lugs by making them thicker
and stronger and are more resistant to breakages and the coil bolts are a vast
improvement over the first Makro Racer design.
There are 4 dedicated search coils for the Gold Racer all encased in white.
The GR26 DD Search Coil 26 cm x 14 cm (10" x 5.5") is Ideal for use on uneven ground. It is sensitive to smaller targets and provides convenient use in High ironThe and narrow areas.
The GR13 DD Search Coil 13 cm (5’’) is More senti-tive to smaller and shallow metals, it also provides convenient use in heavy trash areas.
The Large GR40 DD Search Coil 40 cm x 33.5 cm (15.5'' x 13'') (Optional extra) is a waterproof search coil which provides more depth and offers greater coverage enabling you to find targets faster.
The GR26C Concentric Search Coil 26 cm x 14 cm (10" x 5.5") (Optional extra) is useful for areas that are low in mineralization, it may be more sensitive to small gold nuggets and may provide more depth compared to DD search coils. It also provides a cleaner target response and better discrimination on shallow targets. However, it gets more affected by the ground compared to DD search coils in highly mineralized areas.
Ground balance can be carried out in three different ways on the Gold Racer They
are Automatic, Manual and Tracking. However the automatic ground balancing is
simple. Find a spot where there is no metal by first using the all metal mode and
push the ground balance trigger forward (GROUND BALANCE value and “Pump Coil”
warning message will be shown on the display and start pumping the search coil up
and down from about 6''- 8'' above the ground down to around 1'' off the ground
with smooth movements and keeping it parallel to the ground.
Continue pumping until a beep, indicating the completion of ground balance, is
heard. Based on ground conditions, it usually takes about 2-4 pumps for the ground
balance to be completed. Once the ground balance is completed the ground balance
value is shown on the display. The device continues to ground balance and produce a
beep sound as long as you keep the trigger pushed forward and pump the coil. In
order to ensure that the ground balance is accurate, ground balance at least 2-3
times and check the ground balance values on the display are not higher than 1-2
numbers for an accurate Ground balance its as simple as that.
The manual and tracking Ground Balance is slightly more involved so wont go into it
here as the Auto Ground balance is all I have needed during testing.
The ISAT mode works really well and keeps the threshold from waving and that is all
that is needed when searching for the smaller items. The Thresholds on some
detectors can be unstable or outright erratic but this is the smoothest I have ever
encountered and is a pleasure to use.
The VDU menu system is so simple to navigate I like the way i can simply jump
from all-metal mode to Disc mode one or two at a press of a button and it is
really well thought out. This way you can gather maximum information in
minimum time
It's a rapid machine and probably the most stable I've used in all metal mode
with minimum false signals..
There is a big difference between Disc mode 1 and disc mode 2 with Disc
Mode 2 being the deepest mode. For example if the ground seems very
unstable in Disc mode two then just by switching to Disc mode 1 calms the
machine down, make it run less unstable.
I found it didn't go wild around the power lines or electric fences that were
nearby at times so it seems to work well with EMI.. It did OK near the ones I
was detecting around but if any issues do arise, the frequency shift solved the
problem for me, but of course it depends various conditions at the site you are
on.
As with the Maker Racer deeper items tend to give no ID, but if the audio
seems good then dig, with the stock coil you won't have to dig too deep.
My Overall Verdict
The Makro Gold Racer is a very stable machine both in its discrimination and in
the all metal mode.
It's one of the most sensitive machines I have used and would love the chance
to get on some goldfields around the globe to nugget hunt and to use it to its
full potential.- I have some nuggets and paydirt being shipped over from the
USA and will report on its gold seeking performance soon
As a test this small item of gold was air detected at Four inches in all metal
mode. Are other detectors able to do that? This shows the sensitivity of the
56Khz Racer Gold.
A james 1st Thistle crown half groat silver hammered coin found on muddy
ploughed land
I am looking forward to Makros future machines as I said earlier, they listen to
their customers and strive to iron out and rectify any problems and their
customer service is second to none. The Makro Gold Racer has a great deal of
useful features and Makro are really showing their versatility with the
machines they are producing now and their technology is getting better with
each machine
The company can only get larger and stronger in time with their strong
customer base and their ability to access and take note of the feedback from
