THE “L.A.S.E.R.” TEAM CONTRACTED THE JOHN E. CHANCE COMPANY TO USE THEIR STATE OF THE ART LIDAR HELICOPTER BASED SURVEYING SYSTEM, WHICH PROVED MUCH FASTER THAN TRADITIONAL LAND SURVEYING METHODS. PLUS THE SATELITE GUIDED LASERS MEASEARED MILLIONS OF REALTIME DATA POINTS. THE DATA COLLECTED WAS CRITICAL IN GENERATING DETAIL TOPOGRAPHIC MAPS OF 1,500 MILES OF COMED 138-345KV BULK POWER TRANSMSSION LINES.
THE “L.A.S.E.R.” TEAM WAS ONE OF THE FIRST MAJOR POWER UTILITY ENGINEERING GROUPS TO EMBRACE PLS-CADD. THIS SOFTWARE WAS VERY INSTRUMENTAL IN THE SUCCESS OF THE CORPERATE MANDATE. PLS-CADD WAS PUSHED TO THE LIMITS BY THE HUNDRESDS OF MILLIONS OF SURVEY DATA POINTS THAT WHER ANALYSED. Under my direction the “L.A.S.E.R.” Team collaborated on the design of a special dead -end tube, used for what is called in the industry a floating /suspended dead-end. These tubes were installed at hundreds of tower locations on the ComEd 138/345KV power grid. Raising the existing conductor for the purpose of increasing the load carrying capability, using the same towers and conductors, thus saving millions of $$$$, in new construction.

The hybrid of transmission support structures is here. Just imagine innovation that redefines form and function like the Chicago Spire. It is all possible now there is no good reason to spend 30% more on steel costs, labor costs and associated line components.
What more can the Power Delivery Industry ask for? By embracing in combination all of my 3 transmission line design innovations: SpireMax™ Transmission Spire Systems, DynaMax ™ Transmission Line Design Systems and SagMax ™ Transmission Line Conductor Support Systems, such previous design concerns like, high temperature sags almost become irrelevant, conductor blowout is minimized along with wind induced conductor galloping. Now to everyone's delight the future transmission lines will have a more aesthetically acceptable appearance, shorter overall structure and line profile and much narrower R/W widths. Best of all the cost savings maybe translated into carbon credits because innovative methods minimized the impact to the environment, while reducing project material requirements dramatically as compared over the traditional methods and systems. Much of these innovations are possible because of existing technology and software which is under utilized and not given a chance to succeed.
WHY SHOULD THE POWER DELIVERY INDUSTRY LISTEN TO ME?
If a 100 mile transmission line was estimated at lets say $100,000,000, by implement my 3 innovative design concepts the same project could possibly have a cost savings of approximately $30,000,000, over the traditional design methods and systems. The project owner could either save his $30,000,000 or build a longer transmission line. I do admit that this is only an example and not a guaranteed cost savings for all projects. And the cost savings success is by no means a one man effort. It requires a dedicated engineering team working intensively because new ground on many engineering innovations is being developed for eventual use by others in the Power Delivery Industry.
T O BECOME ENERGY INDEPENDENT SOONER, BECAUSE EVERYTHING WE DO USES ENERGY AND RESOUCES. ASK YOURSELF WHY DIDN’T WE CONTINUE TO HEAT OUR HOMES WITH WOOD BURNING STOVES?
