The 15 Week Revision Plan For Summer 2020 GCSE Examinations
23 January 2020
Dear Student
Welcome to the Kings 15 Week Revision Plan!
Your teachers have put this plan together for you to help you to organise your revision. Having a plan is an essential part of effective revision. There are, of course, many topics to cover. The good news is that there is still plenty of time and that each subject can be broken down week by week into a bitesize chunk.
Please don’t feel too daunted by the size of this booklet. It contains a lot of information! Start by crossing out the pages that cover subjects that don’t apply to you. After that, remember that you only need to focus on one week at a time. Tick off each week as you cover it. If you start to give regular time to purposeful revision now, then you will find that as the weeks go by you will have covered lots of ground.
There are many ways of revising but one essential ingredient is planning your time. The back cover of this booklet shows an example of a weekly revision plan. You can collect copies of this template from the Learning Resources Centre. Alternatively, you may wish to plan your revision in your own format or use an online planner like getrevising.co.uk. Whichever format you use for planning your time you will need to have a plan for when you are fitting your revision into each week and when you are covering each subject.
Remember that it is essential to take breaks and to find time each day when you can switch off and relax. A revision plan is not only an opportunity to plan your work but also a chance to plan when you will take your time off. Revision is best approached in short bursts of approximately 30 minutes with short breaks in between.
There is lots of help available with your revision. Please ask your teachers if you are unsure about anything or require any resources, help or advice.
Finally, I wish you the best of luck with both your revision and your exams. Your hard work over the coming weeks will pay off with success in the summer.
Best wishes
Mr. J. Edwards
Deputy Headteacher

AQA CGP Geography GCSE Revision Guide: This is a really good place to start for everyone. However, although it has some really good information, it doesn’t have everything in lots of detail so you may want to top up your knowledge with Firefly. ALSO – remember not all of the case studies you studied are in the revision guide so PLEASE be careful and use Firefly where you are directed to.
Firefly: This is a good resource to enable you to add more detail to your revision from the revision guide (especially for Case Studies). It is also very important to use it as some on your case studies / examples are on here and NOT in the revision guide (see the table below).
Case studies and examples that we use that are NOT in the Revision Guide but are on Firefly:
Topic: Case Study / Example to use: Where to find it: The Changing Economic World – NEE Case Study Nigeria (NOT India) Firefly

Urban Issues and Challenges - NEE City Rio (NOT Lagos) Firefly Urban Issues and Challenges – UK City Bristol (NOT Liverpool) Firefly Urban Issues and Challenges – A Sustainable City Freiburg (Not Brazil) Firefly

Sports Science (OCR Cambridge Nationals)
You will be assessed through a one-hour written examination. This will be worth 25% of the overall Sport Science Mark. When working in the sport and leisure industry you need to be aware of the possibility of injury through involvement in sport and physical activity. Knowing how to reduce the risk of injury when taking part in sport, and how to respond to injuries and medical conditions in a sport setting, are important skills and ones which will be assessed in this unit. The unit looks at how to prepare for taking part in physical activity so that the risk of injury is minimised. You will also need to know how to recognise the symptoms of some common medical conditions and provide help for reducing the injuries further and apply first aid. Over the next fourteen weeks we will be looking at these areas in independent learning with some practical examples to help increase knowledge retention. This exam has no practical component. R041 Reducing the Risk of Sports Injuries. LO1 Understand different factors which influence the risk of injury
Extrinsic factors that can influence the risk of injury Intrinsic factors that can influence the risk of injury
LO2 Understand how appropriate warm up and cool down routines can help to prevent injury
Physical and psychological benefits of a warm up Key components of a warm up Physical benefits of a cool down Key components of a cool down Specific needs that a warm up and a cool down cover.
LO3 Know how to respond to injuries within a sporting context
The difference between acute and chronic injuries Common types of sports injuries and their causes and treatment How to respond to and treat common sports injuries Emergency action plans (EAPs) in a sporting context
LO4 Know how to respond to common medical conditions.
Symptoms of asthma, diabetes and epilepsy Treatments for asthma, diabetes and epilepsy
Due to the nature of how this is taught we will be moving through sections at different times and in varying speed. There will be assessments in the areas above.
