FULL LENGTH ADJUSTABLE SKIRT BOARDS:Installationofskirtboardsalongtheentirelengthof the conveyor totally confines the materialflow channel which helps control dust. Skirtboardsaretaperedandflaredfromtheinlettothe discharge to prevent pinching of materialbetweentheskirtandthebelt.

DRIVESYSTEM:Horsepowerrequirementcalculationsareperformedbycomputer.Alsocomputerizedis the selection of shafts, drive chain,gearboxandmotor.Headandtailpulleyare selected in accordance with CEMAstandards,withlaggingasrequired.

SCALELOCATEDOUTSIDETHEMATERIALHANDLINGAREA:Thayer’sscaleisnotmountedbetweenthestrandsof thebelt,but ina locationoutsideof thematerialhandlingareasuchthattheweighidler(s)supportingthebelttransmittheloadtothescale.Thisdesignhasseveralbenefits.Thescaleisnotpronetodamage,isoutof thewayforcleaning,andisnotsubjecttotarebuild-upthatwouldchangetheweight,causingincorrectcalibration.Thayer’sscalescan takehighloaddirect overloads that are causedbyoperatingpersonnelorbytheoccasionalparticlepinchingthatcanoccurbetweentheconveyorandthesideskirt.

INLET CHUTE:Amajorfactorinachievinguniformwithdrawalfromstoragebins.THAYERtakesverycarefullconsideration of the inlet section designbased on a given material density, particlesizeandhandlingcharacteristics.Thecorrectdesignallowsformaximumefficiencyandlowenergyconsumption.

BELTTRAVELPULSER:Speedsensingisdigitalandaccurateoveraninfinitespeedrange.Rugged speed sensor is coupleddirectly to the feeder tail pulley notthe drive pulley andmeasures beltspeedandbelttravel.

PRECISIONHEAVY-DUTYIDLERS:PrecisionscaleidlersaremountedonindividualCEMAbrackets,permittingremoval to either side without majorframework disassembly or beltremoval. Idler alignment is criticalto minimize transmission of any belttensionforcetothescale.

HEAVYDUTYBELTFlat belt with 1” high side flanges forprevention of material spillage. Optionalhigh sidewall belts are available for usewithfloodableordry,non-stickmaterials.

The Basic THAYER Flexure-Plate Suspension system utilizes aseriesofsteelflexureplatestotransmitgravimetricloadsverticallyfromthe loadreceivingelementthroughleverstothespecificallyselected controls. The combination of mass counterbalancingagainst tare loads,frictionlessflexure-mountedleversandahighresolutiontransducerproducesaforcemeasuringsystembeyondcompare. Of significance is the fact that infinite weighmentsmay be made without maintenance or calibration, regardless ofatmospheric or factory conditions. SCALE LOCATED OUTSIDE THE MATERIAL HANDLING AREA: Thayer’sscaleisnotmountedbetweenthestrandsofthebelt,butinalocationoutsideofthematerialhandlingareasuch that theweigh idler(s) supporting the belt transmitthe load to the scale.This design has several benefits.Thescale isnotprone todamage, isoutof theway forcleaning, and is not subject to tare build-up that wouldchangetheweight,causingincorrectcalibration.Thayer’sscalescantakehighloaddirectoverloadsthatarecausedby operating personnel or by the occasional particlepinching that can occur between the conveyor and thesideskirt.

TheModelMDLbridgesthegapbetweenstandardlowcapacityandhighcapacityweighfeeders.Somematerialsaretooabrasiveforstandardlowcapacityfeeders,lumpsizescanbetoolargeorflowratesslightlyexceedspecifiedlimits,resultinginlowaccuracyandconstantmaintenanceproblems.Theseapplicationsoftencan’tbereliablyhandledbylarger,highcapacityweighfeedersbecausetherelativelylowflowratesfallbelowspecifiedlimits.(forexample:feeding1.5”lumpsofcoal@2STPH).TheModelMDLisasruggedlybuiltasourcapacityweighfeeders,towithstandabrasivematerials,butisdesignedtooperateatflowratesjustbeyondthelimitsofourlowcapacityfeeders.

TheModelMDisanextremelyruggedweighfeederthatwasoriginallydesignedfortheharshenvironmentofthecementindustrybutcanbeusedinawidevarietyofapplications.TheModelMDistheidealweighfeederwhenmediumtohighfeedratesarerequired,handlinghighbulkdensityandsmallthroughlargeparticlesizematerials.TheModelMDcanbesubjectedtoextremeenvironmentalconditions-such as abrasive dusts, corrosive fumes, wide temperature fluctuations andvibrations-withoutanydetrimentaleffectsonperformanceoraccuracy.

Unlike conventional weight sensing systems wherein the weigh idler is directlycoupledtoaseriesofloadcells,theModelMDandMDLweighbeltsincorporateauniqueForceMeasurementSuspensionSystem(FMSS)interposedbetweentheweigh idlerandasingle load transducer.TheFMSS isaNETweighingsystemthatcounter-balancesdeadloadsothattheentirerangeoftheloadtransducerisavailableforweighingthematerial.TheFMSSalsopreventserroneoushorizontalforce vectors from being interpreted as changes in weight for unsurpassedresolutionandweightmeasurementrepeatability.

WhenconnectedtotheTHAYERfamilyofinstrumentation,theMDandMDLWeighBelts canbeconsistentlyandaccurately calibratedand themeasurementscanbepresentedtooperatorsandsupervisorycontrolsinavarietyofdatahandlingmethods.
