WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
Are You Ready for Qualified Applicants?
In 2015 FAIA was instrumental in changing Florida Statutes toincrease licensing options for students who complete the college-levelinsurance curriculum. The goal was to expand the pipeline ofeducated, qualified applicants for insurance industry jobs.
We are excited to report that several participating state collegeprograms have students who have completed their degrees and areready to enter the work force. One school, Florida Southwestern in Ft.Myers that began offering these courses in Jan. 2019, will have 17students complete their degrees in May and be ready for work in our
industry—and they aren't alone. Get the full list of schools and contacts.

EDUCATION
State Farm, Uninsured Motorist Coverage
I’ve seen and heard of this scores of times in my 34-year career in theinsurance industry: a customer comes into the agency looking forautomobile insurance and has multiple policies with them, eachcovering one vehicle and written through State Farm. As the agentlooks over the policies, they notice that one vehicle has stackeduninsured motorist coverage (UM) while other vehicles in thehousehold have no UM coverage. The agent is shocked or confusedabout the way the policies are written and then they contact FAIAasking, “How can this be?”
The Agents Council for Technology will hold its spring ACT Meeting inOrlando on April 22 in conjunction with the Hawksoft User GroupMeeting. This meeting is free for Big "I" member agents and features interactivesessions on topics including Optimizing Agency Tech, Emerging CyberThreats, AI's Impact on Insurance, the Data-Driven Agency, DigitalMarketing, and more.
