The GEMS would like to thank the congregation for their ongoing support with their many activities and fundraisers. We've kept very busy over the past months, beginning the year out by going to Pumpkin Land for our Kick Off. Our next meeting was an outing mixed with service--we went to the S.T.A.R.S. horse riding school, which is for those with special needs. We helped them clean and picked weeds for an upcoming event, ending the evening with a McDonald's sundae. On October 12 we did our horsemanship badge and traveled out to the farm of Jan and Bernie Fedders. Jill (Fedders) Ellefson was kind enough to have their horses out and she demonstrated many things in proper horse care. The girls were able to experience hands on horse care. THANK YOU! We then came back to church to work on the badge and did a craft using real horseshoes. Our next meeting was the Cooking Badge. Led by Angela K, she guided the girls in making delicious dishes from start to finish which were given to others. They even made some delicious desserts which were enjoyed by all of us. For our last regular meeting of the first half of the year, we did a Bible Badge and made a wall hanging which had a burlap cross on it. For the beginning of each meeting we gather together for a time of Praise and Worship, followed with a Devotion which is led by one of the Counselors. Thank you for buying trash bags and bakeware from the girls. We will use the money raised for supplies needed for badgework, crafts, service projects, and activities. We will also make a donation to The Esther School , which is a school in Nyangwena, Zambia that equips orphaned and under-resourced children to serve God, their families, and their communities and is sponsored by the

The GEMS would like to thank the congregation for their ongoing support with their many activities and fundraisers.  We've kept very busy over the past months, beginning the year out by going to Pumpkin Land for our Kick Off.  Our next meeting was an

outing mixed with service--we went to the S.T.A.R.S. horse riding school, which is for those with special needs. We will also make a donation to The Esther School, which is a school in Nyangwena, Zambia that equips orphaned and under-resourced children to serve God, their families, and their communities and is sponsored by the GEMS International. On Friday, December 9 we have our Christmas Party. We will make baskets of goodie bags to be handed out to community members when we go caroling. We will also be traveling to Hillcrest Care Center for a short program and passing out treats to the residents and return for good eating and games.

Nominations for Elder and DeaconThe nominations for Elder to replace retiring Elders, Willard Koopmans and Art Hamming are Brent Davelaar, James Dekkers, Arlin De Weerd, Brian Gradert and Marlin Schoonhoven.  Nominations for Deacon to replace retiring Deacon, Josh Hooyer are Howard Hulshof, Michael Kramer and Scott Miedema. We thank these men for being willing to have their names on for nomination and serving our church.

Annual Ireton Community Christmas Caroling will be held Sunday, December 4. This event has brought much joy and appreciation to our Ireton community members during the Christmas Season! Once again we will be leaving a plate of cookies & goodies where we carol. We are asking that cookie or goodie donations be at the St Paul Lutheran church by 1:30 pm December 4. We will put the plates together and head for the Hillcrest nursing home at 2pm. We will start here and carol our way back to Ireton and wrapping up the afternoon with a light supper at St Paul’s.  If you would like us to stop by your place or know someone who would like us to stop, please let Denny & Mindi Hulshof or Missy Eilts know.

Experience the birth, A Christmas Nativity will take place in Ireton on Sunday, December 11 from 6 - 8 p.m.  Come join us on a hayride and witness the events that led up to the birth of Jesus Christ. See Joseph and Mary receive the news and search the city for a place to stay, see the lowly shepherds get visited by an angel and then proclaim the good news, and be a part of the entourage looking for the new born king. Enjoy the music, the story and animals as you "Experience the Birth". You will want to check in at the Ireton Community Center.  While you are waiting, enjoy cookies, hot apple cider and hot chocolate! Or enjoy a warm treat when you return!

Atlas Orange City Area to host Atlas Christmas Store on Saturday, December 10 from 9am-11am in Orange City's City Hall basement, 125 Central Ave. S. The Christmas Store receives new items through donations and greatly reduces the price to provide a shopping opportunity for those feeling a financial strain during the holiday season. If you would like to donate newly purchased items to the store, you may drop them off at the ATLAS office (322 Central Ave. NW) through December 5. Questions or interested in volunteering? Please call ATLAS Orange City Area at 737-4090. Thank you for your generosity!

JFA is gearing up for our annual service and learning trips! These trips are a wonderful opportunity to step outside your comfort zone while also having the chance to help one of our partner organizations further their call to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We’ll be going to Juarez, Mexico with Harvest Hands Ministries Jan. 27-Feb. 3, Jackson, MS with the John and Vera Mae Perkins Foundation (formerly the Spencer Perkins Center) Feb. 18-24, and to Jackson, MS with Voice of Calvary Ministries Feb. 25-March 3. A big thank u to those that donated cash donations and things for the Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. Our goal at Ireton Christian was 40 boxes and we packed 55! Praise the Lord! Be in prayer for the kiddos and the villages that will receive these boxes to know and feel the love of Jesus this Christmas season!

Merry Christmas! Thanks to everyone for helping with the Banquet in Sioux Falls. We served 377, including 50+ children.  Thanks to the young people from Ireton and Hawarden, for being a part of this mission project. Next year the service date is Nov. 15. Please consider being a part of this ministry in helping prepare the food and serving to the Banquet quests.

Thank you to all who attended the spaghetti supper and gave donations to the food pantry.

From GEMS and Cadets

We would like to thank all of you who so willingly volunteer to come and get us every Sunday morning. We love our church and are so glad we can still be a part of it. Thanks Again.

Velda Juffer and Chris Schouten

Special thanks to all of you for the cards and prayers for the healing of my wrist and for the dessert. It was very good. Also, thank you for all the cards and best wishes I received for my 80th birthday and for all of you attending my party making it such a special day. It was greatly appreciated.
