Global Hunger Statistics

• 1.02 billion people around the world are undernourished.

• Every 6 seconds one child dies from hunger-related causes.

That’s more than 6 million preventable deaths of children each year.

• Each day 25,000 people die from hunger.

This is more than from tuberculosis, malaria and AIDS combined.

• Vitamin A deficiencies kill 1,000,000 infants a year.

There is enough food produced in the world for every person to have 4.3 lbs. of food every day.

NumanaEmpowering people to save the starving

• Non-profit 501(c)3 international hunger relief organization founded in El Dorado, KS.

• Engaged 120,000 volunteers to package and send over 20 million meals to Haiti in 2010.

• Numana’s mission is to empower people to save the starving by:

• Increasing awareness and education of hunger worldwide and locally

• Organizing food-packaging events for all ages to experience “hands-on” hunger relief

• Communicating advocacy opportunities to demystify hunger and encourage participation in alleviating the global food crisis

• Providing nutritious, easy-to-prepare meals which help to reduce human trafficking by increasing school attendance and literacy through use in school feeding programs

• Rotarians, family, friends and potential new members will prepare packaged food in 2-4 hour shifts to be shipped to Lambert Haiti

• Collection of non-perishable food items at event for distribution to local Salvation Army

• Participate in fundraising efforts by distributing materials to local businesses, churches, and schools

• Share information about event and invite potential new members as guests of Rotary at packaging event
