What is the difference between a major, an extended major and a minor?

A major is an area of specialisation focusing on a single discipline within a program (e.g., Chemistry, Marine Biology).

An extended major is similar, but with more courses and depth in that area of study (e.g., Chemistry can also be taken as an extended major.

New majors and minors in the Bachelor of Science

UQ now offers 24 majors and extended majors and 32 minors
