Thailand Butterflies 2016 It is interesting that unlike Oregon, which has nearly 3 times as many birds as butterflies , Thailand has more butterflies (1,100+) than birds (<1000). This is probably due to its warmer climate and plant life. Below are butterflies seen by Dan van den Broek and Dennis Deck during our Portland Audubon trip to Thailand in January, 2016. Since this was primarily a birding trip we rarely had a chance to confirm our initial identification and often could not get a satisfactory photo, so we have borrowed where we needed a better photo (http://www.northernthailandbirding.com ). Common Birdwing (Troides helena) Great Windmill (Atrophaneura dasarada) Banded Swallowtail (Papilio demolion) Common Mormon (Papilio polytes) Common Jay (Graphium doson) Green Dragontail Lamproptera meges) Redbase Jezebel (Delias pasithoe) Painted Jezebel (Delias hyparete) Hill Jezebel (Delias belladonna) Indian Cabbage White (Artoega candida) Psyche (Leptosia nina) Redspot Sawtooth (Prioneris philonome) 1
