hey friends,

Solution: The cabin has been lived in for more than two hours, probably for a couple of days. Proof: All the snow on the roof has melted due to the heat from the fireplace (and lousy insulation)

The Griffin was a bird-like beast with the body of a lion, but the head and wings of an eagle.

These creatures are believed to be from India, where they would find gold in the northern mountains. They protected the gold they found and soon began to build nests from it. They kept a very strong guard over their homes, and often became violent if they thought someone was trying to steal from them.

Griffins are known for their ability to soar like the eagle, and have the speed and sharp eyesight of the lion. Tales of their courage and strength are told even today.

Fun fact: Do you remember the hippogriff in Harry potter? According to mythology, a Hippogriff is the offspring of a griffin and a horse. afsha sattar

The story is about one rich woman named Elizabeth Thatcher, who leaves everything behind to start a career in teaching. She chooses Coal valley, the western mining town which has suffered a recent mining tragedy killing a lot of

men and leaving numerous families helpless. She is able to make friends- Abigail Stanton and Cat Montgomery, who have had to work in mines following their husbands’ deaths. Eating fruits can be very tasty and healthy. Slicing fruits can be just as much fun. Confused? We bring to you another toy this week which is similar to the famous game app “Fruit Ninja.” The aim of the game is to slice as many fruits as you can in a set time limit. Be careful of the bombs though.

Fruit Ninja: Slice of life is a board game made after the game app. The idea of slicing fruits and avoiding bombs are present in the board game. It’s a two player game where each player has a

sword. Each player must choose 10 fruits among the five different fruits available (lemon, kiwi, orange, apple, watermelon). Each fruit either has a slice on one side or a bomb hidden in it. The players have to pick mission cards in each round to go forward. The first player to match the correct fruit piece with the sliced fruit on the card wins the card. The player to get five cards first, wins.

This exciting toy is available in Lavender and it costs around Tk4, 000.

thE bEnding straw triCkUsing just the power of your eyes, bend a straw sitting in half a glass of water without even touching it!

What you’ll need• A glass half filled with water• A straw• Your eyes InstructionsLook at the straw from the top and bottom of the glass.Look at the straw from the side of the glass. Now look at the point where the straw enters the water, does something seem strange?

What’s happening? Our eyes are using light to see difficult objects all the time, but when this light travels through different mediums (such as water & air) it changes direction slightly. Light bends when it passes from water to air. The straw looks bent because you are seeing the bottom part through the water and air but the top part through the air only.

It sounds like a magic trick but it’s really another amazing scientific theory at work. But now that you know its secret, you can impress your friends with this trick and then explain them why! faizah aziz

Princess, the naughty dog was bought when she was just a puppy! It took her no time to get used to the people in the house. Princess would run around, play with everyone and make a mess wherever she went. Mornings would be annoying because Princess would wake everybody up to play with her. One fine day, Princess was nowhere to be seen! Everyone was searching for her in the

house, but there was no sign of Princess. I thought she got lost. My friend decided to search for her around the block so he went to get his shoes out from under his bed and “Rawph Rawph” shouted Princess and jumped on him licking him all over his face. Princess, as usual, was playing around and wanted everybody to join the game. And like every other day, that morning was an annoying, yet an unusual one! anka malik

• Cattle is probably the oldest form of money. Cattle as money dates back to 9000 B.C.

• The first coins, pieces of bronze shaped like cattle, appeared around 2000 B.C. Their value was determined by their weight, making use difficult.

• The first coins were made around 2500 years ago.

• Paper money was first used in China over 1000 years ago.

• Before the days of paper money, Americans traded animal skins, including deer and elk bucks, for goods and services. This is why the word “buck” describes money.

• A piece of currency can be folded 4,000 times before it will tear.

• Currency is made of 25 parts linen and 75 parts cotton paper.
