Knowledge Fair 2012, was held on the 14th June, 2012 on the campus of JSS

Private School. It was a successful collaboration of The Science India Forum

and JSS Private School, Dubai. Students from over 30 schools across the UAE

participated in this event.

The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the

Principal, Headmaster and members of the SIF, followed by the cutting of the

ribbon.

A series of events were

held through the day.

An inter-school science

quiz competition was

organized at the school

auditorium based on

various scientific theories

and information. Abu

Dhabi Indian School

bagged the first prize and

Sunrise English Private

School Abu Dhabi got the second.

“Best Teaching Practices”, was a presentation of science teachers from

different schools. Participating teachers sent a 35 minute video presentation

comprising of a teaching lesson. The first prize for best teaching practices was

awarded to Delhi Private School, the second to The Indian High School Dubai

and Our Own English School Sharjah, and the third prize to Gulf Asian School.

The Super Scientist was conducted for the students of grades 10 – 12.The

participating teams of students were given a kit with raw materials. Each team

had to use their own creativity to make their own exhibits. The New Indian

High School, RAK won

the first prize and the

Indian Excellent School

Sharjah and Delhi Private

School Sharjah were the

second.

The sub-junior category

consisted of students of

grades 3 & 4. Various

exhibits like a model solar

system, rain water

harvesting, magic floating egg were displayed. In the sub-junior category

Leaders Private School bagged the first prize and Al Ain Juniors bagged the

second.

The juniors’ category consisted of students of grades 5 & 6. The topic for their

exhibits was “Sustainable Energy” or “Waste Management”. Abu Dhabi Indian

School won the first prize and Indian High School Dubai – Girls won the

second.

The seniors’ category consisted of students of grades 7 – 9. Students created

exhibits on the topic of sustainable energy or waste management. The prize

winners were Indian High School Dubai winning the first and New Indian

School RAK winning the second.

The research paper presentation was

for students of grades 10 – 12. The

topic was Ancient Scientific Practices

of the Indian and the Arab world. Abu

Dhabi Indian School got the first place

and Delhi Private School Sharjah and

The Indian High School Dubai got the

second.

Additionally, there was a general presentation for the students of JSSPS, DPS

and Abu Dhabi Indian School comparing old medicinal methods to existing

medicinal methods.

The students of JSSPS gave a spectacular yoga performance

An outstanding robotic presentation was made by Dr Prahlad’s team from the

National University of Singapore.

The Consul General of India to

the UAE, H.E. Sanjay Verma, was

the Chief Guest for the occasion.

He addressed the gathering with

motivating words for the students.

The programme terminated with

the prize distribution ceremony

for the quiz competition. The

event was a great success

furthering the exchange of

academic and intellectual ideas across participating schools.
