Genre

• Q is a popular music magazine published monthly in the United Kingdom. It provides news on various music genres. Therefore, there is no special style or certain colour used on its front covers.

Masthead

• As the magazine’s name is very short: Q, the masthead does not take up the whole space on the top, it is placed on the left. The masthead is also the logo of this magazine, as it has the same style, colour and font on every front cover.

Main Image/Model

• The model of this front cover is Mumford and Sons, an English Folk Rock band. This band not only sings Folk Rock but also Indie Folk and Bluegrass. Their style is very elegant and gentle.

• The image is also very successful as it focuses on each person’s expression, which is very nice and natural.

Colours

• The colour used here is very subtle and goes well with the models’ clothes.

• The background colour is light grey, which is quite dark but looks old and soft, like Folk music itself.

Cover lines

• The cover lines on the rightof the front cover are printed in two colours: Red and White. The red lines are the singers’ name and the white tell the content of the articles.

• Other cover lines are arranged randomly on the rest space of the front cover. They are in bigger size, like “Mumford & Sons The unstoppable rise of Britain’s reluctant rock stars” as the models are Mumford & Sons. Other cover lines like “Chatting with Obama” and “Cheating death” orientate people to some very interesting contents inside the magazine.
