Moses Austin

He was a American businessman. He lost his entire fortune and decided to

presented a plan to colonize Texas. He also established the first English American

settlement west of the Mississippi River.

That year M. Austin died of exhaustion

and exposure but her son, Stephen

Austin, continues whit the project. In January 1821 he left for Missouri with a grant

to bring three hundred Colonists into Texas. By l830 there were 16,000 Americans in Texas.

In 1832 General Antonio Lopez de

Santa Anna became Mexico's president. Two years later he made himself dictator. Santa Anna also imprisoned Stephen Austin in a

Mexican jail for a year.

north with 7,000 soldiers. Battle El Alamo

200 Texas rebels decided to defend the city, 180 died.

1500 of Santa Anna´s soldiers were injured.

Rebel’s army captured Santa Anna.

They forced him to sign a treaty.
