PraisePraiseIn April 2008 a coalition of over 16
environmental groups welcomed the new Carbon Tax Act in Victoria
Get Moving BC in March 2008 applauded TransLink’s plan to adopt an innovative funding model used by Hong Kong to successfully expand and fund its transit system
In June 2008 Translink busses, trolleys, and skytrain are declared fully accessible to the elderly and disabled
CRITICISMCRITICISMExpense of public transit i.e. $2.75 - $4.50 for
a ONE-way fare with fare increases slated for the future, $4 billion dollar Gateway Project, costly nature of Skytrain design
The More Busses Now group is one result of frustrated drivers and bus riders who find fare increases and increased taxes for transportation haven’t eliminated over-crowding, absent busses or pass ups on commonly used routes.
WHERE IS THIS SYSTEM HEADING...without any major changes to current carbon footprint, and without serious attention to the damages of the private car system...
