First Australian

The first human inhabitants of Australia were the Aborigines. They were dark-skinned people.

They arrived here around 50,000 years ago over a route that took them out of Africa, through India, Malaysia, Borneo and Papua New Guinea.

Since Australia was separated from other countries by an ocean at this time it is believed that they must have made their final journey here by raft or canoe.

The Origin of Water

PredictionThe rainbow snake was jumping and it made holes in the ground and then the rainbow snake did a wee and it was water.

SummariseThe blue tongue lizard Bangarra had all the water to him self but the other animals wanted water because all they could drink was the kangaroo grass Gulbirra and the dew from the leaves. So the animals had a plan that they made the bandicoot Gudjilla try to spy on the lizard but the lizard found him so they made another plan that the willy wagtail Jiggirrjiggirr would try but that didn’t work so they tried the rat Gula and finally that worked so the all had water. The water travelled through to make rivers and lakes.

The Origin of Water

FeelingsThe animals would have felt left out and thirsty and maybe even sad because they didn’t have any food. The lizard would have felt selfish because he has taken all the water and not sharing it. QuestionsHow do the aboriginals know that the story is true? How would the lizard get the water and now other animals have water? MoralLittle things can make big differences.

18th Century England The convicts go in an orphanage if they steal

something. The convicts got hung if they stole something The people of England didn’t have lots of fresh food or

nice food because they didn’t know how to cook. The kids learnt how to use guns . The people don’t have any heaters so they will get

really cold. If the convicts are sick they don’t have any medicine or

they can’t stay in bed because they have to do jobs. There was so many convicts in jail they had to transport

them to a different countries and then that’s how they found Australia

The First Fleet In my shoes My name is Sarah Hall I got transported from London because I stole clothing it was worth 27 shillings. I am 46 years old I have been in Sydney for 7 years because I stole. To get to Sydney I went on the Lady Penryhyn ship. On the boat I got sea sick and I vomited. I was so hungry on the boat and thirsty but they only had a little bit of water and no food. I was so scared and if I started crying they would be really mean to me. When I left England I was 53 years old and I never stole anything again because I wanted to spend time with my family.

Bound for Botany Bay

Who is singing this song? The convicts that are going to Botany Bay.

Why are they singing it? To express the convicts feelings. Why are they saying ‘farewell to Old England forever?’

They might be transported to Botany Bay for life. Where were they going? Why? They are going to Botany

Bay because the did a crime.
