Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Each week parents, neighbours and
community members email and talk to me about various unsafe
behaviours around our school. I’m sure that we are all familiar
with the traffic rules but sometimes we think if we are in a hurry
or running a little late we can cut a few corners. PLEASE do not
ever compromise when the safety of our students and community is in
danger. Teachers regularly chat with their students about safe
behaviour in and around our school. I again ask for your support in
this matter. Reports Once again, this semester, the reports will be
emailed to all parents. Please ensure you inform the school office
if your email address has changed. David Scotter Principal

Mrs Wright’s Wrap Up SENSATIONAL, TERRIFIC, ENERGETIC, AMAZING
AND MARVELLOUS THINKING HAPPENING IN OUR STEAM ENRICHMENT GROUP
Mrs Hammond is having so much fun with her STEAM Enrichment
group. I loved visiting them last week. Working in pairs the
students had been given 25 minutes, a roll of tape and loads of
straws and were asked to create a tower type structure which could
stand alone. Some were successful and others not so much, but the
critical and creative thinking that was happening was incredible.
No two structures were alike and when the students explained the
reasoning behind their choices I was absolutely blown away. In
previous weeks they’ve completed other challenges. They worked with
varied materials to create catapults and then challenged each other
to see who could send a small pom pom the furthest distance. They
also followed specifications to create a paper plane and then had
to make modifications to it and see whose plane flew the furthest
distance. A huge thank you to Mrs Hammond for making these
opportunities possible for our students.
AMAZING AND ABSOLUTELY AWESOME ARTWORK COMING TOGETHER IN OUR
AMENITIES BLOCK
We are so lucky to have incredibly creative and talented parents
at our school. Susie P, mum of Charlie, Honor and Olivia is kindly
creating magic in the girls’ amenities block. Although she isn’t
yet finished, as you can see from the photo, she has made a
wonderful start and our students are excited by what is to come.
These artworks complement the work Kate M, mum of Charlie, has
completed in the boys building. A gigantic thank you to these
parents for the work they are doing for all to enjoy! You truly are
talented and appreciated. .

ARTIFICIAL GRASS AREAS A COMPLETE AND UTTER HIT WITH OUR
KIDS
We knew the artificial grass had made a huge transformation to
our playground areas aesthetically, but, it is so incredible to see
the difference it is making to our students each and every day. As
you can see so many of the children are enjoying the spaces and
getting to enjoy time with their friends in such lovely
environments. Thank you to the P&C for assisting us in making
these areas possible for our students. Mrs Priscilla Wright
Assistant Principal Instructional Leader SRC (STUDENT
REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL) Save Water Poster Competition
All students from K-6 are invited to create a poster for our
poster competition, to encourage people to save water.
The SRC representatives from each class have been talking to
their classes about why we need to save water and how we can save
water. Due to the drought, this is an extremely important
message.
Posters will be displayed in the library and there will be
certificates and canteen vouchers for the best posters. Students
can draw, paint or use a computer to create their poster. The size
should be A4 or A3. Please bring me your poster by Friday Week 8 (6
December). Thank you to the students who have already submitted
posters.
Included here are two wonderful examples from CJ W and Monique

another terrific week of sport against Newport last week. We had

P&C NEWS
Oh, what a night! The inaugural WHPS Trivia Night certainly
didn’t disappoint in 2019.
We had nearly 300 people in attendance and the night raised
around $23,000!
This is a huge accomplishment and one that the whole school
community should be proud of.
We have received SO MUCH positive feedback and it was great to
see everyone having such a good time on the night.
There were a stack of game prizes, raffle prizes and silent
auction items up for grabs so congratulations to all the lucky
winners of those.
The Fundraising team would like to thank the 30+ volunteers for
all their help in the lead up, and at the event, Nick Duchatel and
the Belle Property team for their attendance and auction
expertise for the LIVE auction (which raised nearly $3,000) and
all the table sponsors and businesses who contributed prizes and
donations.
We would also like to thank the office ladies (who have become
our new best friends!) for their support in the planning and also
the organisation/coordination of the prize distribution –
they do a fantastic job!
It couldn’t have been as successful without you all, and we
truly appreciate it!
Let’s do it all again in 2020.
