This week we celebrate

Being kind is simple and we have many opportunities in our day to day life to share the gift of kindness with others, ourselves and our environment.

Please speak with your children about being kind as they have been learning about it all year and ask to see our bubbles of kindness displays.

The great thing about kindness is that it doesn’t only make the person receiving it feel great but also the person who is being kind. There is also a bonus, when

we see kind things happen to others it makes us want to be more kind too.

So get out there and BE KIND!

PAGE 3 NEWS FROM THE SPECIALIST TEACHERS

Kitchen

It has been a busy year in the kitchen, not only have students been learning many new recipes to cook but they took a look at the food other cultures eat during our ‘Around the World’ term focus. From a theory side, students have been looking into how to read and write recipes, and what goes into our school garden

P.E.

2018 has been a jam packed year for Health and P.E. Across the whole school, there has been a focus on welling in Health, covering areas like character strengths and healthy eating.

In P.E., students have learnt about a number of sports, including gymnastics, soccer, netball, cricket and bad-minton. Rooms 4 and 5 are coming to the end of the Sports Education model which will culminate in a grand final between two of the competing teams.

We have also been fortunate enough to have fielded teams in SAPSASA athletics, netball and soccer, with all students who participated having a great day!

ART

What a colourful year it’s been for Art. We’ve studied colour, line, pattern and portraits. The students have learnt about the artists Kandinsky and Mondrian. It has been fantastic to watch as each student gains confidence in their own abilities and styles.

Well done to all students in Rooms 10,14,15,16 and 17!

Recently, the government has confirmed that year 7 public school students will be taught in

high school from term 1, 2022.

The move will align South Australia’s public schools with the national curriculum taught in

high schools making it easier to deliver subjects and improve outcomes for students.

Access to dedicated facilities and resources and exposure to different teaching styles will

also give each year 7 student opportunities for deeper learning, greater peer interactions,

and greater independence and responsibility.
